Scene 1: The camera pans towards the main gates of a public park.  Crowds of people are heading towards the park looking excited…

Narrator:

“It’s amazing how one phone call can change a person’s life.

In some cases – like the one I’m about to tell you about – a single phone call can change many lives.

I know the secret behind this particular phone call, but I’m not telling you what it is  – not yet, anyway!

It all started with one mobile phone and one anonymous call… right after a music concert in Aberdeen…”

The camera turns to a businessman who has parked his car in the public park and is now locking the door behind him.

Hundreds of people are passing by him, and we can hear music blaring in the background.  The businessman hears his mobile phone ringing as he starts to follow the music.  He takes the phone from his inside jacket pocket and answers the call in an agitated fashion…

Dustin:  “Hello – you’ve reached Dustin Waters!”

Narrator:

“This is Dustin Waters – great name, I’m sure you’ll agree.

He’s a small time record company executive who’s career has been flagging every since a Russian pop lesbian sued him for sexual harassment.”

Dustin listens to the person on the other end of the line, but doesn’t look impressed…

Dustin:  “Sorry – I’m afraid that’s not going to happen!  I’m in sunny Aberdeen at the moment… “

Dustin continues to walk towards the music as he listens to the caller…

Dustin:  “Why am I here?    Well, I’ve been told there’s a band playing at some free concert that I just have to see!”

The camera pans away from Dustin to reveal a large crowd walking towards the music.  We see a stage in the background with people gathering in front of it.

The camera pans back into the crowd where we see George – a bit of a nobody with a passion for rock music.

He nudges past Dustin in an attempt to reach the concert stage before everyone else.  Dustin is annoyed at being nudged out of the way, but quickly forgets about it and ends his phone call.

The camera turns to George and then freezes for a moment…

Narrator:

“And here’s George Cameron – an unemployed 30-something who lives on a diet of 70’s Rock Music, Beer and Burger Kings.”

He’s come to the concert to see an obscure heavy metal band from his childhood years…  what he doesn’t realise is that his life is about to be turned upside down.”

The camera unfreezes and then follows George towards the concert area…

The camera eventually leaves George and turns its attention to Dustin – he is about reach the security-railings at the front of the concert stage.

Dustin pushes through a small crowd of people so that he can talk to a security guard behind the railings.  The guard looks unimpressed as he notices Dustin approach him…

Dustin:  “Excuse me…  V.I.P. person coming through!”

Dustin reaches the railings and looks at the security guard…

Dustin:  “Hey big guy!  My name’s Dustin Waters – I work for Elektra records!?”

Dustin shakes his head as the guard gives him an unimpressed look.

Dustin:  “Anyway… I’ve got a back-stage pass, so just let me through!”

Dustin smiles smugly to himself as the guard begins to un-clip the railings to let him through.

Dustin:  “Much obliged!”

Dustin begins to walk up the stairs to the backstage area when suddenly George appears from out of nowhere and starts hassling the security guard…

George:  “Wait!  I’m with him!”

Dustin overhears George speaking to the guard and turns around to see what’s going on.

The security guard looks at Dustin.

Security Guard:  “Is he with you?”

Dustin:  “No, no!  Get rid of him!”

George looks angry.

George:  “What’s your problem?”

Dustin:  “I don’t know you!  Why would I know you!”

George admits defeat and begins shaking his head…

George:  “Just forget it.”

Dustin:  “Yeah – get lost!”

George snarls and then clenches his fists in anger as he takes offence to Dustin’s remarks.

George:  “Go fuck your backstage pass, you stuck-up piece of shit!”

Dustin turns round and begins mocking George.

Dustin:  “Yeah – it feels real good!”

The security guard decided to intervene.

Security guard:  “Okay, that’s enough!”

George walks away disgruntled, but Dustin has to get the last word…

Dustin:  “Can’t you control these freaks?!”

The security guard is unimpressed as Dustin and George give each other an evil look.

George moves back into the crowd and Dustin makes his way to the backstage entrance.

Dustin’s mobile phone rings again.  George notices Dustin cancel the call without answering it.

George walks away as Dustin gives him one last glance.

Scene 2: Four hours later.  We return to the concert stage where the crowd are awaiting the next band.  We see George acting very drunk and rowdy near the front of the crowd with a bottle of beer in his hand.  It’s beginning to get dark.

The camera cuts to backstage where Dustin is trying to act professional and important.  He looks around for the next band to appear onstage, but can’t see any sign of them.  Dustin notices a security guard at the side of the stage and decides to ask him who the next band will be.

Dustin:  “Excuse me!    Who’s onstage next?”

Security Guard 2:  “Some unsigned band.  They’re stuck in traffic just outside of town, so who knows if they’ll make it in time!”

Dustin looks irritated and bored.

Dustin:  “Do they have a name?”

Security Guard 2:  “Yeah – but I’ve forgotten it!”

Dustin: (sarcastically)  “Thanks for the help.”

We then notice George jumping up and down in the section of crowd behind Dustin.

George looks agitated as he notices Dustin at the side of the stage.

George starts moving around – trying to get a better view.  We hear a voice from the crowd…

Security guard 3:  “Excuse me… excuse me, sir!  You’re not allowed glass bottles in the crowd.”

George realises the security guard is talking to him, and quickly tries to get rid of the glass bottle.

In a moment of madness, he decides to hurl the bottle towards the concert stage.  We watch in slow motion as the bottle spins through the air… We then see Dustin turn around to face the crowd – his face lights up with shock as the bottle rockets towards him.

Crack!

The bottle hits Dustin square on the head, and he falls to the floor as his eyes roll back in their sockets.

We return to the crowd where George is about to be apprehended by the security guard.

Security Guard 3:  “Oi!  What the hell are you doing?”

George tries to play innocent, but he’s definitely been caught.

George:  “What?!”

Security Guard 3:  “You threw that bottle at the stage!”

George:  “What you on about?!”

The security guard realises that George is having him on, and tries to apprehend him.

George makes a run for it as the Security Guard rushes towards him.

The tables are about to turn…want to find out how? Let me know!
