A group of teenagers grab some costumes and a camcorder, and decide to film a scary movie at a Country house – however, there is someone else looking to create their own horror story…

Idea created 11/11/2002. WARNING – some scenes have persistent bad language

Scene 1:

Simon, James and Ryan are discussing how they will spend their upcoming October holidays.  The scene is set in Ryan’s front room with a burning fire, subtle lighting and an overall dark atmosphere, James comes up with the idea of filming a homemade horror movie at Ryan’s Grandparent’s country house which is out in the middle of nowhere…

James Samuel:  “How about making a horror film?  We could use your Grandparent’s house whilst they’re on holiday!”

Ryan Skavien: “But they live out in the middle of the country… how would we get everyone out there?”

James: “Well, Michael’s got his driving test on Monday and he’s bound to pass!”

Ryan:  (sighs) “Okay, but you do know that it’s out in the Backhills?”

Simon Morgan:  “I’m not heading out there – there’s a loony prison in Backhills?”

James:  (looking excited) “Really?”

Ryan:  “Yes… my Grandparents have been living in that area for years and they didn’t want to move when they built the place”

James:  “So how close is this place to your Gran’s house?”

Ryan:  “It’s a couple of miles over a hill, but you can hardly see it.”

James: “It sounds fine to me… and Simon could get some girls to star in it as well…”

(James looks at, and gestures towards Simon)

Simon:  “I suppose I don’t mind, as long as Rachael is okay with it!”

Ryan:  “Rachael’ll be up for it… she’s dying to get you alone for a few hours!”

Simon:  (smiles)  “Okay… I’ll speak to her though… you’ll just freak her out if you mention where we’re going!”

Simon gets up and starts typing Rachael’s number into the phone.  James looks excited and Ryan has a look of uncertainty.

Scene 2:

Rachael and Helen are talking about their plans for the Holidays when Rachael’s mobile phone rings out…  She gets up to retrieve the phone and switches it on…

Rachael Jones:  “Hello?”

* Simon: “Hi, it’s Simon!”*

Rachel:  “Oh, hi… how are you?”

* Simon: “I’m doing alright… (breaths in) I need to ask a favour from you though!”

Rachael:  “Okay..”

* Simon: “Me, Ryan and James are wanting to make a horror movie over the Holidays, and… we need a few girls to star in it as well… (pauses for reply)

(Rachael looks surprised but interested at the same time)

Rachael: “Emmm… make a horror film with you guys?”  (looks at Helen for a reaction.  Helen eventually puffs out her cheeks and nods whilst mouthing “yeah”).  “Okay… I suppose I’ve got nothing better to do… but how many girls are you needing?”

* Simon: “…..Say…three of you?”

Rachael: “…Well Helen’s up for it, and I’m guessing Christine won’t be a problem, so you can count us in.”

(Rachael and Helen smile, giggle and shake their heads)

* Simon:  “Sounds good… emm…James and Ryan say we’re going to start on Monday, so we’ll pick you up about seven in the evening.. is that alright?”

Rachael: “Okay, I’ll get Helen and Christine to come over to mines for seven”

(Rachael nods to Helen and Helen nods back.)

Rachael:  “See you later!”

* Simon: “Bye!”

Scene 3:

Michael pulls his new car up to Rachael’s house at 7pm on the Monday Evening when filming is to begin.  He gets out of the car and rings the front door bell… Ryan and James follow him with camcorder in hand and backpacks full of clothes and props for the film.

Michael Fish:  “Are we ready to go then?”

Rachael: “Yeah… we’ve got all our stuff… do you still need my cassette player?”

James: “Yep! It’s going to play an essential part in the film!”

(Rachael hands over the cassette player with an unimpressed look on her face)

Christine Campbell: “So how did you get your Gran’s house keys then?”

Ryan:  “Well… James thought it’d be a great idea if we stole my parents set of keys and then get a copy before they noticed.”

Rachael:  “ Will they not be checking up on your Gran’s house whilst she’s away?”

Ryan:  “I doubt it… they’ve got work to do over the holidays, and the house is a bit out of the way for them.”

Christine:  “Where is your Gran’s house anyway?”

Ryan:  (deep breath)  “Emmm… it’s out in Backhills?”

Christine: (shocked at the stupidity of the location) “What… with Cornhill Hospital in the back garden!”

James:  “Don’t worry about it – the place has got fencing up to the sky, and it’s a good few miles away from the house!”

Helen:  “Yeah, but what about that guy Richard Keavins who escaped at the beginning of last year?”

Rachael:  “Richard Keavins is locked up there?!… I thought they’d moved him to a high security place somewhere in another country!”

Christine:  “… they tried to, but nowhere was willing to take him.”

Rachael:  “I remember reading about the guy – he’s a complete nutter!”

Ryan:  “Like James said, don’t worry about it.  When he escaped, they found him in a matter of hours and he didn’t get very far anyway.  And if he does come here, we’ll ask him if he wants a part in the film!”

Rachael:  “Oh yeah, real funny Mr. Skavien!”

Christine:  “Still, we’re keeping an eye on the news – I want to be the first to know if he gets out!”

James:  “Fine, but I’d bet my life on him never getting out again!  After last year, they upped the security big time – the place is like fort knox with knobs on!”

Michael sticks his head out of the car window…

Michael:  “Can we get moving?… it’s going to get dark soon, and I hate driving down country roads in the middle of the night..”

Ryan gestures to the girls that everything is going to be fine and that they should get moving.  Everyone gets in and drive off into the Backhills…

Scene 4:

Michael drives the car into the grounds of the house and switches off the engine.  Everyone gets out and heads to the front door.  The girls look cold and slightly nervous, but are happy when Ryan opens the front door and reveals a friendly looking house with a fireplace just ready to be lit up.  The group walk into the front room and take their seats around the fireplace…

Simon:  “So, who’s got the script?”

Ryan:  “I’ve got one here… I’ve had this movie idea in my head for the last few months and the script is pretty good…”

Ryan hands the script to Simon as Helen and Rachael crowd round him to see what the film’s all about.   After a few seconds of reading, Simon and Helen pipe up…

Helen Davis:  “It’s a Blair Witch rip-off isn’t it?”

Ryan:  “Yeah, but it’s got a bit of the “killer stalker” type thing in it as well!”

Helen: (sarcastically)  “Hmmm, great!”

Ryan:  “I’ve got copies of the script for everyone (he rummages into his back pack) And the girls needn’t worry – they’ve hardly got any lines!”

Rachael:  “Good… I’m not spending the whole week working on some sort of stupid drama project – I want some fun as well!”

Rachael squeezes Simon’s side and smiles down at the script so that people don’t notice her blatant flirting.  Simon puffs his cheeks and looks slightly nervous.  The other girls try to hide their giggling from the boys, but a sudden silence makes everyone burst into immature laughter.

Ryan:  “Right…I’m going to show you all where you’re sleeping – and I don’t want any mess left – my Granddad would go crazy if he knew what was going on!”

James:  “Oh well… if your Granddad goes nuts, Cornhill is just across the road!!”

Ryan:  “Very funny…(Ryan gets up from his seat and gestures for everyone to follow him)  Let’s go then!….

Everyone gets up from their seats and begins to follow Ryan.  The first room they come to is for two people.  Rachael is quick to interrupt Ryan as he asks who wants the room…

Ryan:  “Two people can stay in this room, so who’s up for it…”

Rachael:  “Me and Simon’ll take it for just now…!”

Rachael grabs Simon by the arm and leads him into the room… Ryan leads the rest of the group around the other rooms and the attention turns to the room where Simon and Rachael will be sleeping…

Scene 5:

Simon starts to unpack his stuff quietly whilst glancing at the film script. Rachael moves to close the bedroom door…

Rachael:  “You don’t mind staying in the same room as me do you?”

Simon:  “Not at all… “

Rachael moves over to the bed where Simon is reading deeply into the script

Rachael:  “You look nervous… have Ryan and James been teasing you again?”

Simon:  “A little bit… but it’s not been bothering me, they’re just being immature as usual.”

Rachael moves closer to Simon on the bed and tries to act more interested in the script.

Rachael:  “So what do I have to do in this film then?”

Simon:  “Well… judging by scene three, you might just be the first victim.  God this is silly… I think James’s been watching too many of those Japanese horror films again!”

Rachael:  “Let’s have a look then!”

James knocks on the door and waits for an answer from Simon and Rachael.

Rachael:  “Come in!”

James opens the door and walks into the room with the video camera rolling.

Rachael:  “What are you doing?”

James:  “I’m filming scene two… why, what’s the problem?”

James continues to walk around the room filming Simon and Rachael from different angles.

Rachael: “Emm… we’re not ready for starters!”

James: “Yes you are… this is perfect.  It’s what the films all about!”

Simon:  “What are you on about?”

James:  “Ahhh… see this is why I didn’t give you the script before today.  I’m recording the film in a special way… I give you the script scene by scene, you learn your lines, we film that scene and then we move onto the next one.  Do you get it now?”

Simon:  “Yeah… sort of.  But what’s the point in filming it that way?”

James:  “This is where we have some fun!  One of the people in this house is going to play the part of the killer and everyone else has to guess who they are!”

Simon:  “Won’t it be obvious when we read the script?”

James:  “No… because the only person that has the killer’s movements or lines in their script is the person who’s playing the killer.”

Rachael:  “So only you and the “killer” know who… the killer is… correct?”

James:  “Yeah – and the rest of the gang have to guess who it is.”

Simon:  “Okay… but how are we supposed to act like we’re going to die if we don’t know when the killers going to strike?”

James:  “Well… for example, if it was your turn to die, I’d have a script especially written for you so that you know when it’s going to happen.  Don’t worry, I’ve thought it all out… and it’s going to work!”

Simon shrugs his shoulders

Simon:  “All right… what do you want us to do now then?”

James:  “That’s scene two done now, so get reading scene three that I’ve given you and meet me in the front room in… 20 minutes?”

Simon:  “I take it the killer’s got a disguise of some sort?”

James:  “Yeah… as I said I’ve thought everything out in advance.”

Rachael:  “What happens if we muck-up our lines?”

James:  “Well… if you don’t think you’re going to remember your lines, then have your script handy.  If you slip-up then, just look at your script and keep on going.

There’s going to be improvising during the film anyway, and I’m not taking the whole thing too seriously.  The main thing is for you to guess who you think the killer is at the end of the film.”

Simon:  “So…Rachael could be the killer, but she’s not aloud to give on that she is?”

James:  “Yeah… or you could be the killer – and you’ve just said that to throw Rachael.”

Rachael and Simon smile at each other.

Rachael:  “You can think what you want…!”

Simon:  “I’m not thinking anything!”

Rachael:  “Right… I’m going to learn my lines and we will see you in 20 minutes.”

James:  “Good stuff…”

James leaves the room in a pleased mood as Rachael and Simon start learning their lines.

Scene 6:

James is in the front room setting up the camera as Rachael, Simon and Christine enter through the door.

Rachael:  “Right, where’s the killer?  Is he hiding in a cupboard or something?”

James:  “No – the killer doesn’t appear until later, and before you ask, I’m not telling you in which scene.”

Simon:  “Not to worry, we obviously don’t die in this scene.”

James:  “I wouldn’t say that – all the scripts are different.  Someone might die in a scene you’re in… you just might not see it coming!”

Christine:  (jokingly) “Simon’s just saying that ‘cause he’s the killer… I can tell!”

Simon:  “No I’m not!”

Christine:  “I’m only kidding… after all, I could be the killer!”

Simon looks slyly at Christine

Simon:  “Let’s get on with this… I want to see the next script for some clues.”

James:  “Take your places then!”

Helen, Michael and Ryan also enter the room giggling to each other.

Christine:  “By the way, does everyone get to watch each scene – even if they’re not in it?”

James:  “No… because if we did that, then everyone would know who the killer was, wouldn’t they? “

Christine:  “I know…(she sighs)  It was worth a try!”

James smiles back at Christine and huddles behind the camera.

James:  “Come on you lot… sit down in your seats!”

Everyone is still talking, but eventually they get to there seats around the front room.

James:  “You all ready?”

Everyone replies with a “yes!”

James:  “Okay… 3…2…1…and action!”

Film now turns to a rolling video camera that has everyone in the room in shot… James runs into shot and sits down with the others

Michael:  “So why have you brought us here James?”

James:  “It’s all part of my experimental film… someone in this room is a killer, but they will only reveal themselves once filming is complete – if you do not identify the correct person before they are revealed, then you will die.  You have one guess and one guess only – if you fail, then you face the consequences – it’s that simple.”

Camera fades out as the line …”it’s that simple” is completed.

Scene 7:

The scene opens with a person’s eye view.  That person is in the middle of a field.   They look around to see Ryan’s Granddad’s house.  They walk towards the window of a bedroom where we can see James ushering Helen and Michael into their places for the next scene.

The Camera fades and then we return in the bedroom.  We catch a glimpse of the figure outside the window but neither Helen, Michael or James notice.  The figure moves away from the window and James notices something out of the corner of his eye.  He looks towards the window for a moment but soon turns his attention back to filming…

James:  “So do you two understand what’s going on then?”

Helen:  “Yeah, but I don’t know if I’m going to enjoy it – this place is giving me the creeps already.  I don’t exactly need one of you guys sneaking about in the shadows!”

James:  “Don’t worry – it’s all good clean fun!  You ready then?”

Michael and Helen both say “yeah” as they take one last glance at their scripts

James: “Okay then…3…2…1…action”

Michael:  “This is one sick experiment that James has come up with – and you know what… I reckon he could be the killer!”

Helen:  “Why do you think that?”

Michael: “He seems the most likely candidate in my mind – I feel that I can trust everyone else except him.”

Helen:  “But that’s probably what he wants you to think – the killer could be anyone… including you!”

Michael:  “Don’t you trust me?”

Helen:  “I don’t know what to think… I just remember you talking to him last night.  You were as thick as thieves.”

Michael:  “I admit, we were talking about tonight but he never mentioned anything as strange as this.”

A tapping noise can be heard outside the window.  Michael, Helen – and eventually James – are alarmed by the noise and stop acting.

Michael: (looking shocked) “What was that?”

Michael and Helen look at James as he glances to the window.

James:  (looking sincere) “I don’t know…nothing to do with me!”

Michael:  “Oh yeah… this’ll be the improvisation you were on about.”

James:  (pauses – obviously in two minds)  “Maybe… that’s for you to work out!”  (looks slightly concerned)

Helen:  (obviously upset)  “I’m not doing this anymore… it’s not even fun… and that wasn’t clever either  (pointing to the window in anger).

Helen storms out of the room almost in tears and Simon and James decide to follow.  Camera turns back to person’s eye view outside the window where we see Simon and then James leave the room – James looks back at the window for a second – screwing his eyes up slightly before making an effort to catch up with Simon and Helen.

Scene 8:

Simon and James chase after Helen.  As they do, they walk past Simon and Rachael hugging in the doorway of their room.  They chase a little further and then Ryan shouts to them…

Ryan:  (looking concerned) “Hey, you guys… listen to this!”

Helen, Simon and James stop running and listen to Ryan who is in a room just off from the hallway.  Ryan has the radio/ cassette recorder sitting on a table in front of him.  As the others take notice of him he turns up the volume on the player.

A radio report can be heard…

Newsreader:  “…the security alert was reported at approximately 9:15 this evening after a guard at the Backhills hospital informed police of a possible attempted break-out by an un-named patient…”

Ryan quickly turns down the volume and look, with great concern, at Simon, Helen and the others.

Helen:  (looking even more flustered) “This isn’t fucking funny!”

Helen storms off as the others stand in the doorway bemused.

Michael:  “I don’t know exactly what’s going on here, but if this is a joke… you’ve taken it a bit far!”

Michael and others run off to see Helen.  James stays behind to talk to Ryan.

Ryan looks nervous and guilty as he presses the stop button on the cassette deck..

Ryan:  “Are you sure this is worth the effort?”

James:  (puffs out his cheeks)  “Yeah… everyone else is cool about it, Helen’s just getting a bit freaked out… (sighs and then looks towards Ryan)  Were you outside in the driveway a few minutes ago?”

Ryan:  “No..why yi asking?”

James:  “Ochh nothing… something made a noise outside and Helen jumped out of her skin.”

Ryan:  “Well it wasn’t me!”

James:  “You’re not freaking out as well are you?”

Ryan:  “No… but I wouldn’t mind knowing who you’ve chosen as the killer!”

James:  (sarcastically)  “Ha ha very funny…  I’m going to see what the other guys are saying and then we’ll carry on filming.”

Ryan:  “Okay… you wanting to take the tape back?”

James:  “Just leave it in the cassette player for just now – if we’re going to carry on filming then we might need it later.”

Scene 9:

Michael and Rachael are comforting Helen in her bedroom.  Helen seems to be calming down but Rachael doesn’t look very happy.  James and Ryan enter into the room looking very sorry.

James:  “You okay Helen?  We didn’t mean to scare you that much – we were just trying to create an atmosphere!”

Rachael:  “Yeah, you’ve created a fucking good atmosphere now, haven’t you!?”

James looks like a little boy who’s been told off by his parents.

James:  “Look… I’ll make sure things don’t get out of hand again, but I want to keep filming… is that alright with you lot?”

Simon:  “I’m up for it… just as long as you tone things down a little bit!”

James:  “Not a problem.  Right….me, Ryan and Simon are in the next scene so we’ll get that finished and then we’ll take a break… is that all right for everyone?”

Everyone takes turns to say yes or okay… except Helen.

James:  “Helen?  You okay with that?”

Helen:  “Yeah… I wouldn’t mind a break.”

James nods to himself nervously and looks towards Simon and Ryan

James:  “You two ready?”

Simon and Ryan:  “Yeah!”

James ushers Ryan and Simon into another room whilst the others go separate ways and leave Rachael and Helen alone in the bedroom.

Scene 10:

James, Simon and Ryan enter the front room where everyone else but Helen and Michael are sitting down enjoying junk food and some rubbish programme on TV.

James:  “What are you watching?”

Rachael:  “Just some crappy programme about animals humping each other… you can change the channel if you want.”

James:  “Well I was thinking of linking the camera up to the TV and watching the scenes we’ve already recorded.”

Rachael and the others looking slightly unimpressed but not majorly bothered.

Rachael:  “If you must… it’s Ryan’s TV though so you’d better ask him first.”

James:  “Is that alright with you Ryan?”

Ryan:  “Yeah… go on…(trying to lighten things up)  It might give people a hint about who the killer is!”

James:  “Yeah… there’s a good idea!”

James sets up the camera and rolls the footage.  Everyone in the room is now taking an interest and starting to smile a bit as the footage is played.  The camera pans to the TV where we see the scene that James has just recorded with Simon and Ryan.

Everything is normal until we see a strange figure appear on the video footage.

A person can be seen peering into the window behind James and Simon in the video footage.  The person moves away from the window but leaves a hand-print on the window.

Christine:  “What the fuck was that?”

Simon:  “What you on about?”

Christine:  “There was someone at the fucking window!”

Simon:  “Where!”

Simon looks at the front room window not realising that Christine meant in the video footage.

Christine:  “In the video footage… there’s someone looking in at the window!… rewind it if you don’t believe me!”

James moves over to the camera so that he can rewind the footage.

Rachael: (looking frightened)  “I think I noticed something too!”

James rewinds the footage…

Christine:  “That’s it… just there!”

James:  “I didn’t see anything!”

Christine:  “Play the tape!”

James:  “Alright!”

James presses play and everyone watches in horror as a figure can blatantly be seen at the window peering in.  Christine looks shocked as we see the back of her from an angle that also includes a mirror.  In the mirror we see a similar figure walk past the doorway.  Christine draws in a breath and sits almost motionless in her set as she begins to panic.

Christine:  (looking like a chill just went up her spine)  “Oh my god!”

The camera pans to everyone else in the room as Christine sits – frozen in fear.  Ryan looks in fear also towards Christine.  He is sitting closest to the doorway where the figure just passed.  Christine eventually finds the power to look towards the doorway – a leg can be seen passing the doorway.

Ryan:  “What?”

Christine:  (falls to the floor on her knees)  “That was the same thing… it’s in the house!”

Everyone looks towards the doorway in total fear.

Simon: (looking scared and angry at the same time)  “James you better have a fucking explanation for this.  If this is you toning it down, I’m going to kick the shit out of you!”

James looks totally shocked at Simon’s uncharacteristic outburst.

James:  “This has got nothing to do with me!  Someone else is taking this too far… not me!”

Simon grabs James by the neck and holds him up against a wall.  Rachael tries to intervene.

Rachael:  “STOP IT WOULD YOU?  There are two other people in the house – if it isn’t James mucking about, it’ll be either Michael or Helen!”

Christine:  “IT WASN’T EITHER OF THEM – I can tell when my friends walk past me!”

Rachael:  “Simon put him down!”

Simon lets James go.  James looks confused and upset.

Rachael:  “Who’s supposed to be the fucking killer?… JAMES!!!!”

James opens his mouth, but on that note Helen comes through to the front room in a state of panic.

Helen:  “Someone’s escaped!”

Rachael:  (looking confused and scared)  “What?”

Helen:  “It was on the radio again – someone’s escaped from Cornhill!”

Rachael:  “WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!”

Rachael is now panicked and everyone else in the room looks completely shocked.

Simon:  “Where’s Michael?”

Christine:  “IT’S NOT MICHAEL – I told you!”

Simon pauses.

Simon: (visibly shaking)  “I’m not saying it was Michael… I just think we should know where he is!”

James runs towards the door and grabs Ryan on the way.  James drags Ryan into the toilet room and locks the door behind them.

James:  (looking very nervous) “What’s going on here?”

Ryan:  “I don’t know!”

James:  “Well how the hell did Helen hear the news report again?”

Ryan:  “I DON’T KNOW!”

James:  “Someone’s setting us up!… Making us look like fucking arseholes!”

Ryan:  “Well who the fuck is it?”

James:  (pauses)  “It’s got to be Michael… he’s the only one it could be!”

Ryan:  (pauses) “He wouldn’t do that!”

James:  “He hates the fuck out of me so why wouldn’t he do it?”

Ryan:  (long pause/ looking desperate for an answer)  “What about Helen?!  What if she found out about the tape?  She could be leading us on!”

James:  “SHUT UP!  She couldn’t do that!”

Ryan:  “What if someone played the tape for her to find?  Who would do it?!”

James: (licking his lips)  “Apart from you – yi fucking bastard!”

Ryan:  “What the fuck you saying?”

Banging begins from behind the bathroom door.

Simon: (very angry) “What are you guys doing in there?  We’ve got a few people scared shitless out here and we haven’t heard an excuse from you two yet!”

James:  “Just a minute!”  (pause/ looks towards Ryan)  Look… you don’t need to know who the killer is – they wouldn’t do this kind of shit to us!”

Simon:  “Come outside and let us hear what you’re saying in there!”

James:  “WAIT!!”

Ryan:  “Is ANY of this shit your doing?”

James:  “I’m asking you the same!”

A scream can be heard in the hallway.  James and Ryan look at each other and then rush to open the door.  They open the door to find everyone else running to the front door.

James:  “What the fuck’s happening?!”

Simon:  “Who’s your FUCKING killer!”

Simon runs up to James once again and pushes him to the wall.  Hysterical screaming can be heard from just outside the front door.

James:  “It’s me and Ryan!”

Simon:  (pauses for a moment with glaring eyes)  “YOU’RE FUCKING LYING!! … you and Ryan were in that scene together – it’s someone else!”

Simon starts shaking and pushing James about the hall.  James is pushed to the floor.

James:  “OKAY… okay… it’s me and Michael!”

Simon:  (looks amazed)  “And Ryan was in on it as well?!”

James:  “Just a little!”

Simon:  (pauses/ everyone is silent apart from faint whimpering from outside the front door)  “Well why the FUCK is Michael lying outside with his neck cut open?!”

James looks totally shocked and makes towards the front door in fear.

We see the body of Michael lying just a few metres from the front door covered in blood.  James covers his mouth looking as if he’s about to vomit.

James:  “Oh my God!”

James staggers back against the wall Christine and Rachael huddled together at the front door.

James:  “What the hell’s going on Ryan?!”

Ryan:  “Don’t look at me… (Ryan contemplates to himself)  This is all a set-up isn’t it?  Mike’s fine isn’t he… he’s putting it on.  This isn’t funny James!”

James appears to vomit into his hands.

Ryan:  (looking around the hall – desperate for an explanation)  “Where’s Helen?… Who else can it be?”

Simon:  “Shut up!”

Once again, everyone is quiet apart from the Rachael and Christine who are still in shock in the corner of the hall.  A smashing noise can be heard.  Everyone is alarmed, but Simon and Ryan are the first to react and they run upstairs.

James takes his hand away from his mouth and looks towards Michael’s body.

James:  “Michael… Michael… you’re taking this too far now, we’ve got to stop it… you hear me?”

James walks into the driveway to see Michael face-to-face.  Someone runs to the front door from the outside of the house and pulls the door to.  James then turns around to see a dark figure in front of him.  The person reveals a knife from his pocket – James is shocked.

James:  (gasping for air)  “Not you… no way!”

The person drives the knife into James and the camera fades.

Scene 11:

Ryan and Simon are upstairs looking for clues to why there was a smashing noise.  They seem to have forgotten about the whereabouts of Helen – as well as James and the other girls.  Simon finds nothing to explain the noise and decides to face-up to Ryan.

Simon:  “Ryan… tell me what’s going on here!”

Ryan:  “I don’t know what’s going on!”

Simon:  “Stop fucking with my head – you’re in on it!”

Ryan:  “Trust me… I’m not!”

Simon:  “So I’m guessing Michael’s still alive out there and he’s planning the next scene with James… am I right?!”

Ryan:  “There’s someone else… there must be!”

Ryan and Simon are startled by a dark figure that has just appeared behind them.  The person is standing with the video camera in one hand.  Simon looks unconvinced by the stranger but Ryan is visibly in shock behind Simon.

Simon:  “Is this the final scene eh?… Is this in the fucking script?!”

Simon turns round to look at Ryan.

Simon:  “Is this in the fucking script?”

Ryan:  (starts to well-up – he shuffles to the ground shaking his head)  “It’s not!”

The dark figure is looming closer to Simon.

Simon:  “What?!”

Ryan:  (shaking his head)  “It’s not in the fucking script!”

Simon turns around to face the dark figure.  The dark figure reveals his knife once again.  Simon is finally convinced that it’s not part of the script.  Simon turns back round to see Ryan. The dark figure stabs him from behind.  We see Ryan looking towards the camera – unable to comprehend what is going on.  Fade out.

Scene 12:

The camera travels through the house, stopping at every dead body – Michael, James, Christine, Rachael and then Simon.  The camera then travels to Helen who is alive in one of the bedrooms – but understandably shocked.

Ryan:  “Helen… Helen!”

Helen tries to answer but doesn’t have the strength.  She pulls herself from off the ground and walks towards the back door of the house.  As she reaches the room leading to the back door, we catch a glimpse of Ryan looking much healthier than before.

Ryan:  Helen… Helen… everything’s okay now – the filming’s almost over!”

Helen realises that something is wrong and makes for the door.  Just as she gets out the door, the dark figure appears from a corner of the kitchen.  Helen starts screaming as the figure and Ryan move towards her.

Ryan:  “Don’t worry Helen – we’re friends.  You know – me and Mr. Keavins!”

Helen is now sitting in the back doorway in hysterics.

Ryan:  “Mr. Keavins really did escape today – can you believe it?!”

Ryan is now within a metre of Helen with Keavins standing closely behind him.

Ryan:  “It’s handy when your Gran leaves you the house for a week – you can get up to all sorts of things.

I took a walk up to Cornhill the other day to give Mr. Keavins a copy of our script.

I even helped him get through the perimeter fence.

Problem is, we’ve still got one more scene to do in our film – and we have to do it quickly because the radio says the police might be on their way!”

Ryan:  “What we’re going to do in this final scene is give you a head start.  You can run anywhere you want, but after ten seconds we’re going to come looking for you.”

You needn’t worry about your lines either, ‘cause we’re all improvising on this one… so off you go… your ten count starts…NOW!”

Helen gets to her feet in shock and runs into the driveway.  She quickly finds a decent hiding place where she can see the back door.

Ryan: “… 8… 9 … 10! … Here we come … ready or not!”

Mr Keavins and Ryan enter the driveway.  Ryan goes in the opposite direction from Helen’s hiding place whilst Mr. Keavins heads in the right direction.  Keavins eventually walks right by Helen.  We get Helen’s eye view as Keavins starts to look harder for her.

Suddenly we hear a car in the distance – driving towards the house.  The car eventually reaches the driveway as Keavins hides in another corner.  The car stops. Helen wants to cry for help, but she is scared the driver could be killed or give her location away to either Ryan or Keavins.  A police officer gets out of the car and walks towards the back door where the light is clearly still on and the door is wide open.

Police officer:  “Hello? … Is anyone home? … this is police officer Fowler – we need to speak to you urgently!”

The police officer steps slightly into the house as Helen decides to run to him.  She uses the car as cover and quickly reaches the officer.

Police Officer:  “You’re okay… you’re okay.   What happened here?”

Helen is in such a state of shock that she cannot force her words out.  The police officer clearly sees this and begins walking to his car with her – checking his surroundings for anything suspect.  He sits her in the passenger seat of the car and looks around once again.

Police officer:  “You’ll be okay in here… I’m just going back to check the house.”

The police officer attempts to use his mobile phone to contact someone, but he gets no signal.  He then decides to go back to the house.  Helen starts whimpering “no” under her breath, but the officer is so aware of something around him that he doesn’t here her.  He closes the car door and walks towards the house.  Keavins appears from his hiding place and follows the officer quietly to the back door.  Helen starts screaming from inside the car, but feels helpless and curls up into a ball in her seat.

Keavins catches the officer unawares and we see the officer grabbed and then stabbed by the killer.

Helen watches on as Keavins heads towards the car.  She unlocks the door and goes back to her hiding place.  Keavins quickly notices something moving and walks towards her hiding place.  In the background we see someone reaching into the dead officers jacket and pulling something out.  The person then starts moving towards Keavins.
