Two days later
Scene 13:
The scene opens with a television set showing footage of the president talking at an anti-mutant conference. The camera pans back to show us the President’s Assistant talking to a bounty hunter about catching mutants who are terrorising the president…
President’s Assistant: “…I don’t expect you to get into the thick of things – these are highly dangerous mutants we’re talking about. All I want you to do is find out more about them.”
The President’s Assistant picks up the TV remote control…
President’s Assistant: “The first group I’m going to show you have been causing much concern to the Government, and especially the president, for some time now.
Here, I’ll show you…
Three mutants have been identified within this group, but we’ve had scientists studying their movements. They’ve come to the conclusion that they are modified mutants who may have been given their powers by a second party – or a mastermind if you like.
We have a vague idea of their whereabouts, but we need someone like you to work undercover and find out in a subtle way where they can be found. We don’t want to send Mutant Control into an area and scare them off – that would ruin our findings so far. I’m going to give you this file… it’s got all the information we’ve compiled on the group and I want you to study it in good time…
Now… until recently these three mutants were our only concern, but two days ago we were given footage of a second group.”
The President’s Assistant picks up the TV remote control again and clicks a button…
President’s Assistant: “This footage was taken during the space of only a few hours just two days ago. There are at least six mutants in this group, and it’s obvious that they can cause serious damage. If you choose to handle this group first, I suggest huge caution… I’ll show you why.
This is footage of one of the mutants escaping from a standard security prison during the early hours of the Saturday. Other mutants in this world would describe him as a “glower” because of his ability to create balls of glowing kinetic energy.
You can see here that he’s caused substantial damage to the prison, and also freed many other mutants that were being held in the facility.
This next clip I’m going to show you has edited footage of an attack on Mutant Control shortly after the incident at the prison. Here we have another four mutants that can be connected to the “glower”.
They escaped a “flushed” area of the City at midday on Saturday and later met up with the glower in the Westside of the city.
We also have footage of that as well – along with the sixth member I was talking about… this is the mutant we are most concerned by.
The sixth member can be seen here helping the “glower” to destroy a small group of Mutant Control Police – and you can see the power that he possesses…
Finally, we have footage of the other four members picking up the glower and escaping the area…
These six mutants haven’t posed a threat to the president as of yet, but I’m asking you to keep an eye open – they could easily be linked to the first group of modified mutants that we looked at.”
The President’s Assistant turns off the TV and turns to the Bounty hunter…
President’s Assistant: “I hope I’ve made myself clear – I want you to drop any other assignments you have at the moment. I’m paying you well for this…
Bounty Hunter: “Not a problem – it’ll get my complete attention.”
President’s Assistant: “…I want you to keep in touch with me over the next few days – but I don’t want anyone tracing you back to me. The president has two important conferences to hold this week, and I don’t want anything to spoil them…okay?”
Bounty Hunter: “Okay.”
The Bounty Hunter receives a nod from the President’s Assistant, and makes his way towards the door. The hunter leaves the room as the President’s assistant lifts up a phone and dials a short code…
President’s Assistant: “Michelle, can you give Mr. Simmons the brief case I told you about? He should be passing the desk in a moment…”
Receptionist: “Right you are Sir!”
President’s Assistant: “Thanks.”
Scene 14:
The scene opens with Marcus and Richard talking in the driveway of an abandoned, multi-storey building. The camera pans over to show Stuart and Martin checking the equipment in the van…
Marcus: “…so what gift did he give you?”
Richard looks down at his new, extremely muscular body…
Richard: “Very funny – I haven’t been taking steroids you know!”
Marcus: “Do you think we’re the only one’s that Gates has turned into mutants?”
Richard: “Well the others might have some sort of powers – they might just be less obvious than ours.”
Marcus: “I think we should find out – if the others have been given gifts we need to know.”
Richard nods in agreement…
Richard: “So, do you know that mutant who just disappeared in front of you?”
Marcus: “I don’t think so! I thought it could be one of you guys, but they never spoke, and his face was blank.”
Richard: “You don’t think it could be Chris, do you?”
Marcus: “It could be, but who knows what they did to him in that lab, they might have killed him there and then!”
Richard: “Judging by the news reports we watched, I definitely think it could be him. Mutant Control have really cleared up the city – there must be very few mutants left wandering the streets these days.”
Marcus: “The way that he looked at me though… if it was Chris, he wasn’t thinking like himself. He looked ready to fight me, and the way he handled those police was over the top.”
Gary appears from around the corner looking amazed with himself…
Gary: “Guys, I’ve got something I have to show you!”
Marcus: “What’s up?!”
Gary: “I’ve discovered my gift!”
Gary then looks at the building in front of him and starts to run towards it. As he reaches the base, he jumps feet first into the wall and begins running up the side of the building.
Stuart: “Shit man! Get down from there!”
Gary: “Don’t worry – I can control it!”
Martin: “You’re all acting like this is a good thing. You should remember that we’ve got the government chasing our arses because of these gifts!”
Gary: “Admit it – if you could live peacefully with a gift like this, you’d rather have it than not!”
Martin: “But it’s not like that, is it? I think we’ve all been given a gift, but I certainly don’t feel any better for it!”
Gary: “That’s because you don’t know what gift you’ve been given yet! Once you find out, you’ll change your mind!”
Marcus: “So it’s just Martin and Stuart that don’t know their gifts yet?!”
Gary: “True!”
Stuart suddenly looks unwell… he sits down uneasily, holding one hand to his head.
Marcus: “What’s wrong Stuart?!”
Stuart: “I think Gates did something to my brain – I’ve been getting headaches like this ever since we arrived here.”
Gary runs back down the building to see Stuart…
Gary: “Just relax, and then concentrate – it must be your gift developing!”
Stuart: “How the hell would you know? All I can feel right now is these fucking migraines!”
Stuart begins to stare angrily at Gary…
As he becomes even more furious, Gary is thrown by an unseen force into a pile of empty cardboard boxes and black bags at the other side of the street. Marcus and the others watch on in astonishment…
Marcus: “Woah! I think that’s your gift!”
Gary lifts himself back to his feet and brushes himself down…
Gary: “There you go then!”
Stuart: “I could see that coming!”
Gary: “What? You mean you already knew you could do that to me!?”
Stuart: “No, no… A few hours ago, I imagined exactly what I just did to you!”
Richard: “Seems like you’re the brains behind this operation then!”
Stuart: (smiling) “That’s another thing I already knew!”
The gang start laughing to each other…
Scene 15:
The scene opens with a brass band playing a fanfare in the main city square. People are walking around the square as confetti and balloons fall from the sky, creating a colourful and happy atmosphere.
The camera pans back to reveal the outside of the City Hall building – a stage has been erected in front of it with a Lectern in the centre. A large banner is also shown that reads “President Bob Johnston’s annual public speech!” We then see the Bounty Hunter walking around in the crowd as security men in the background usher the president on stage. A round of applause takes place and then hush as the president reaches the lectern…
President: “Good morning Liberty City! It’s great to be back in the public eye in the most literal of ways!”
The crowd laugh and clap…
President: “As we all know, the mutant control operation that was implemented almost five years ago is almost complete!
It is estimated that over 85% of the mutant population in Liberty City is now under control, and within the next two years we can begin tagging and spreading safe mutants back into society.
Unfortunately, as you will have read in the press, there are still a number of rogue mutants who may spoil the re-socialising operation. I would just like to take this opportunity to ask you, the public, to remain calm during the next few months. Plans are in operation to flush out these rogues, and we expect a reign of peace in Liberty City before the year end!”
The camera turns back to the Bounty Hunter who soon notices something suspicious going on. We see him spot a few people standing on the roof of a building in the close distance.
He quickly lowers a pair of glasses over his eyes and we discover that the glasses also act as binoculars. In the distance, we see two of the modified mutants that the hunter was shown on video by the President’s Assistant. The third mutant is walking away from the roof edge and seems to have something to do. The Bounty Hunter decides to investigate, and starts walking towards the surrounding buildings.
As he does so, we notice one of the mutants jump a huge gap from one rooftop to another – getting a little bit closer to the city square. The Bounty Hunter is now very suspicious, and decides to get a better position for a possible shot at the mutant. As he does so, we see the mutant jump a further building, leaving the shopping centre as the only building in the way of him and the city square.
The Bounty Hunter watches on in astonishment as the mutant makes his way unnoticed to a rooftop next to the City Hall where the President has taken to the stage.
As the Bounty Hunter is shocked into action, he notices the other two mutants standing on yet another rooftop – this time to his immediate right!
The Bounty Hunter is amazed that the security men haven’t noticed, and decides to act himself…
Bounty Hunter: “EVERYBODY GET DOWN!!!!!”
The crowd start to scream as they notice the mutant jump onto the roof of the City Hall. The Bounty Hunter then takes a large pistol from his pocket. The security men start to usher the President towards his car as everything starts to get out of hand.
The security guards don’t fancy taking on the mutants and decide to rush to safety with the President.
People are beginning to panic as the first mutant flies down from the roof of the City Hall towards the Bounty Hunter.
The Bounty Hunter starts shooting at the mutant but to no avail. As the flying mutant is about to reach him, he rushes towards the shopping centre nearby to take cover.
The Bounty Hunter reaches the shopping centre just as the largest and most intimidating of the three mutants turns the corner to meet him. He then notices people screaming at something on top of the shopping centre. He takes a quick glance upwards and notices the third mutant peering down at him…
Mental mutant: “Mr Simmons?!”
Bounty Hunter: “Fuck!”
The Bounty Hunter enters the shopping centre with the large mutant on his tail. The mutant is smashing down doors and marching towards him as innocent people run for safety.
Suddenly, the flying mutant appears – crashing through the disabled doors of the shopping centre with his razor sharp metal wings. People flee in horror as he lands feet first to view the scene.
He notices the Bounty Hunter within a few seconds and sets off flying towards him.
The Bounty Hunter turns into a large department store to his right and starts to run through aisles and aisles of clothing.
He eventually decides to hide behind a clothes rack in hope of the flying mutant not seeing him. As the Bounty Hunter looks through the clothes rack for any movement out of the ordinary, he starts to hear screaming and smashing noises.
After a few seconds of the screaming and smashing, the Bounty Hunter stands up to see what is happening. As he does so, he notices clothes racks and mannequins fly into the air and then crash to the ground as the mutant flies towards him at knee level! The bounty Hunter turns to a shop assistant who looks completely shocked by the oncoming mutant…
Bounty Hunter: “Excuse me – what floor is it for firearms?”
Shop assistant: (looking shocked) “Fourth floor – the lift’s over there!”
Bounty Hunter: “Thank you!”
The Bounty Hunter takes one last glance at the oncoming mutant and then runs for the lift. As he does so, the mutant flies out onto the main walkway of the shop floor, and speeds towards the Bounty Hunter who is now frantically rattling the lift button…
Just as the mutant reaches the Bounty Hunter, the lift arrives. The Bounty Hunter jumps into the lift as the mutant lands on his feet and then tries to grab the lift door.
The mutant manages to get a grip on the lift door and looks certain to get in. The Bounty Hunter immediately takes his pistol back out and unleashes a shot to the mutants forehead.
The force of the gun shot knocks the mutant back only slightly, but the Bounty Hunter gives a swift kick to his mid-section and makes the mutant lose grip of the door.
The Bounty Hunter rattles the fourth floor button as the flying mutant runs towards him. Luckily, the door closes just in time, and he is safe for the moment.
Scene 16:
The camera now turns our attention to the other evil mutants who have met in the shopping centre. Customers are fleeing at an alarming rate as the two mutants talk…
Mental mutant: “Where did he go?”
Large mutant: “Into the department store.”
Mental mutant: “Well keep up with him, I want a few words!”
As the two mutants are about to part, a rumbling sound can be heard. The two mutants turn around to see the ground splitting in front of them. Chris appears from the ground like a concrete man and faces up with the largest of the mutants.
Mental mutant: “What do you want?”
Chris: “To talk with you.”
Scene 17:
The action turns back to the Bounty Hunter who has emerged from the lift on the fourth floor. He looks around quickly for the firearms department of the store.
He notices the department in the far corner of the floor and starts running towards it. As he approaches the shop assistant at the counter, he slows down to a walk. The assistant then notices him, and is ready for a sale. The Bounty Hunter starts looking around the floor for movement from the mutants…
Shop assistant: “Can I help you there?”
Bounty Hunter: “Yeah! I’m a bit worried about mutants in my area… and was looking to upgrade to a Paralyser 440.”
Shop assistant: “I take it you’ve seen the adverts then!?”
Bounty Hunter: “I have… it’s amazing what the public can get their hands on these days!”
Shop assistant: “Very true! I think the last people to get these sorts of weapons are the police!”
Bounty Hunter: “That’s probably because they’re so bloody expensive!”
Shop assistant: (laughing) “Yes – I couldn’t see the government splashing out on these things for Civilian Police. I guess the biggest guns are kept for Mutant Control these days!”
Bounty Hunter: “You’re probably right. I can’t stand the mutants around these days – they’ve got bad attitudes!”
Shop assistant: “That’s the same attitude I’ve got at the moment! I think the police are quite glad civilians are taking things into their own hands these days.”
Bounty Hunter: “I don’t mind it – it’s for the good of the city. That’s why I’m looking for the newest model on the market!”
The shop assistant nods in agreement and then reaches for something under the counter…
Shop Assistant: “Could I get a quick DNA sample from you, sir.”
Bounty Hunter: “Sure!”
The shop assistant then reveals a small machine that can detect mutants from a simple DNA scan of their hand. The Bounty Hunter obliges, and everything is okay for the sale… Suddenly, screams can be heard at the other end of the shop floor and the Bounty Hunter starts to get agitated…
Shop assistant: (noticing the screams) “Sounds like someone’s seen the price tag for that new organic sofa we got in today, ha, ha!
The Bounty Hunter has a nervous look on his face, but tries his best to smile back at the Shop Assistant’s joke.
Shop Assistant: “Everything’s fine with your DNA sir… how would you like to pay?”
The Bounty Hunter reaches into his back pocket…
Bounty Hunter: “Here’s a card!”
Shop assistant: “That’s perfect!”
The bounty hunter signs the credit card receipt as fast as he can and waits impatiently for his gun…
Shop assistant: “Would you like me to pack it up safely for you?”
Bounty Hunter: “No, no…I’ll take it as it is!”
The Bounty Hunter grabs the gun, rips off all the packaging, and begins loading the chamber as fast as he can…
Bounty Hunter: “Come on, come on!!!!!”
Shop Assistant: “Is everything okay sir?”
Bounty Hunter: “It’s a bloody pain in the arse to load!”
As the Bounty Hunter loads the last bullet into his gun, he decides to hide behind a nearby display cabinet. The flying mutant then comes into view in the close distance…
Shop Assistant: (now looking a bit worried) “What’s wrong sir, you seem agitated!”
Bounty Hunter: “Shut up! You see that guy with the massive metal wings and evil looking face? He’s going to rip my fucking head off, if you don’t keep your mouth shut!”
The shop assistant is amazed by the Bounty Hunter’s bad language, but decides to look towards the mutant he is talking about…
The shop assistant is soon in a state of fear, and quickly makes his way to a nearby lift.
As he rattles the lift buttons in a state of panic, the mutant notices something suspicious going on and starts walking in his direction.
The shop assistant eventually escapes into the lift, but the mutant still decides to investigate the firearms department.
The Bounty Hunter is extremely scared as the mutant searches the area around him, but after a while, the mutant starts heading in the wrong direction…
The Bounty Hunter takes his chance, and starts running towards the store exit, which leads into the main shopping area of the centre.
Luckily, the mutant only notices the hunter as he begins to exit the store.
The Bounty Hunter is now in a busy part of the shopping centre’s fourth floor.
As he looks around, he spots a door across the shopping centre bridge that leads to a car park.
As he runs across the shopping centre bridge, the flying mutant appears from the store exit and notices him. Down on the ground floor, the other two mutants have noticed the bounty hunter running across the bridge…
Mental mutant: “Mr Simmons!”
The Bounty Hunter looks around and notices the mutant speaking to him…
Mental Mutant: “You’re a difficult man to catch. I suppose it comes with the job!?”
The Bounty Hunter looks down at the mutant, stops for a second, starts to take aim with his gun, and then notices the flying mutant behind him.
The Bounty Hunter puts his gun away for just now, and continues running towards the car park.
As he runs into the car park, an exit sign in the distance comes into camera shot. He hears the door behind him opening, and decides to take immediate cover behind a car. The flying mutant appears from the doorway behind him looking very pissed off and ready to catch his prey.
As he walks across the car park, the Bounty Hunter decides to trick him by setting off some car alarms.
He uses his newly purchased gun to shoot at three cars on either corner of the car park floor. As the car alarms ring out, the mutant realises that the Bounty Hunter must be in the only corner without a car alarm going off.
The Bounty Hunter realises his fatal mistake, and after mouthing a few rude words, he stands up, faces the mutant and starts shooting at him with both of his guns. After a few blasts of the gun, the mutant is still standing. The Bounty Hunter then decides to break into a car and take it for a ride.
The mutant notices within seconds, and starts running towards him.
The Bounty Hunter manages to start the engine of a nearby car, and starts heading down the descending ramps to the ground floor. As he gets to the first floor, he looks up through the sunroof of his car and sees the mutant attempting to jump onto the roof of his car. Just in time, the Bounty Hunter escapes the car park and drives as far away as he can. He looks back and notices that all three mutants are now on his case…
Scene 18:
The three mutants continue to chase the Bounty Hunter through the city by jumping and flying between rooftops. The Bounty Hunter eventually stops and gets out of his car at an old abandoned building.
As he does so, we notice Marcus and Richard outside another nearby building. They both notice the Bounty Hunter get out of the vehicle, and then watch on as the evil mutants drop from the rooftop in front of them and start finding a way into the building the Bounty Hunter has entered…
Marcus: “Richard… take a look at this!”
Richard: “What’s going on?”
Marcus: “They must be mutants – I saw them jump off the building over there. One of them had metal wings on his back!”
Richard: “Hey, you guys – get out here a minute!”
As Stuart walks out into the car park, he is overwhelmed by something…
Stuart: “Arrghh!”
Martin: “What’s wrong?”
Stuart looks towards the building where the Bounty Hunter is and his eyes grow wider.
Stuart: “We’ve got to get in there! Something’s about to happen!”
Marcus: “I think there’s about to be a fight in there – you sure we should do this?!”
Stuart: “Someone needs our help – and we need their help in return!”
Marcus: “Okay, let’s take a look.”
Scene 19:
The Bounty Hunter has entered his hideout and is preparing weapons and looking out for the mutants. The Bounty Hunter grabs some grenades and large guns and prepares himself… The three evil mutants walk into the building and start looking around…
Mental Mutant: “Be careful… he meant to bring us here!”
The flying mutant begins to search the place by leaping up various ladders within the building. We then see the Bounty Hunter come into view.
He throws a grenade towards the large mutant standing on the ground floor and takes cover. The large mutant looks down at his feet as a large explosion rips through one side of the building.
As the dust settles, the large mutant clears the air in front of him to see the Bounty Hunter with a shotgun aimed at his stomach.
Bounty Hunter: “Don’t fucking move!”
The building is silent until Marcus suddenly walks into shot.
He is standing outside the building, but has a clear view of the Bounty Hunter and the large mutant, thanks to the hole made in the wall by the grenade.
We then hear the noise of Marcus working up an energy ball. As the evil mutants and the Bounty Hunter turn round to see him, he throws his energy ball towards the large mutant.
The large mutant is thrown to the other side of the building by the impact and the Bounty Hunter falls back to the ground in amazement.
The mental mutant faces Marcus and starts to stare at him. Marcus is confused, but then a large chunk of the exploded wall is thrown at him by the mental powers of the evil mutant.
The chunk of wall hurtles towards Marcus, but he is able to build a force-field around himself as he moves into a cowering position. The chunk of wall disintegrates around Marcus, and he soon realises another benefit to his powers. As the dust settles once again, the rest of the gang enter the building and a battle ensues.
Richard walks into view with his blunderbuss weapon at the ready, and squares up to the large mutant. They then begin to throw each other around the building.
Marcus throws an energy ball towards the other two mutants, but they are able to jump to safety. After a few minutes of battling, the evil mutants realise that they are fighting a losing battle. They make their exit as quickly as possible, and the atmosphere in the building calms considerably.
Marcus: “They’re gone!”
Richard: “What about this guy over here?”
Their attention turns to the Bounty Hunter who is awakening on the floor after the shock of the explosion.
Stuart: “He’s got some information for us.”
Stuart approaches the Bounty Hunter
Stuart: “…Don’t you!?”
Bounty Hunter: “What do you mean?”
Stuart: “Someone paid you to fight those mutants… who was it?”
Bounty Hunter: “I’m working on this job for the President’s Assistant. I was supposed to be watching those mutants undercover, but my cover was blown.”
Stuart: “No shit! Were you given any information on them? I’d like to see it.”
Bounty Hunter: (more relaxed) “Yeah, I was! And I was also given information on you as well.”
The Bounty Hunter stands up cautiously…
Bounty Hunter: “I should be trying to kill you right now!”
Stuart: “Well, you’re not going to do that now, are you? After all, we just saved your life!”
The Bounty Hunter walks towards a filing cabinet in his hideout and retrieves the information given to him by the President’s Assistant…
Bounty Hunter: “Here’s what I was given – a file on those three, and a file on you.
I was told that you might be working together with those guys, but I think you just cleared that up for me!”
Stuart: “We don’t have anything to do with those guys.”
Stuart begins to read the information. Suddenly, he looks more interested…
Stuart: “This information mentions an “outside party” involved with those three mutants. Do you know anything about this?”
Bounty Hunter: “I was told that those three mutants might have been modified, and that an “outside party” could have made them that way.”
Marcus: “I think you’re on to something Stuart!”
Stuart: “I know I am – we were modified too, remember?!”
Richard: “But we’re in a different future! Dr. Gates might not even be in this world!”
Stuart: “Things aren’t that different here. If you think of the world we were living in, this could easily be its future.”
Marcus: “We should have tried to follow those mutants. They might have given us a clue!”
Stuart: “There’s more information in this file than I thought. I’m going to look over this stuff for some clues.”
Richard: “So, what are we going to do with our new found friend?”
Bounty Hunter: “I can help you out a little bit more – just as long as you let me go afterwards.”
Stuart: “It’s a deal! But I want to know anything else that could help us.”
Bounty Hunter: “The President has a press meeting at the Town Hall this Friday. I wouldn’t bet against those mutants trying to sabotage the thing again.”
Marcus: “What do you mean by again?”
Bounty Hunter: “I just came from a public meeting the President was holding in the city square – that’s where I met those mutants. The President has a press meeting later in the week, the security will be tight, but I doubt that’ll put those mutants off!”
Stuart: “We have to get involved! I think there’s a good chance that Dr. Gates is playing a part in this.”
Marcus: “I noticed similarities between two of those mutants and two of us. I reckon you’re right.”
Richard: “How were we similar?”
Marcus: “One of them seemed to have the same mental abilities as Stuart, and another had strength just like Richard.”
Martin: “I see what you mean!”
Marcus: “We should be aware of the one with the mental powers, he could easily out think us if we’re not careful.”
Stuart: “There are more of us than them, so hopefully we can handle anything they throw at us.”
Stuart looks at the Bounty Hunter again.
Stuart: “So what are you doing on Friday – my friend?”
Bounty Hunter: “I’m going to report back to the President’s Assistant and prepare myself for the conference. But only after you explain to me who Dr. Gates is!”
Scene 20:
We find the Bounty Hunter back in the President’s Assistant’s office where they are discussing what went wrong during the President’s public speech.
President’s Assistant: “You know you’ve endangered the President even more? Those mutants you befriended have set you up!”
Bounty Hunter: “I’m telling you, they are not after the President! They even gave me a lead to the outside party you believed to be involved in all this.”
President’s Assistant: “If you tell me who it is, I’ll pay you the money – despite your failure on Monday!”
Bounty Hunter: “They told me a Dr. Jeremy Gates turned them into mutants as an experiment – he could easily be the one!”
President’s Assistant: “A Dr Jeremy Gates works for the Government’s Mutant Physiology department. You do realise the consequences of what you’ve said?”
Bounty Hunter: “Well, if it’s true, you should be paying me a lot more!”
President’s Assistant: “Get out of my office! Your contract is terminated, and your friends will be getting a visit from mutant control!”
Bounty Hunter: “There’s a conspiracy going on, and you want to get rid of the most important lead?!”
President’s Assistant: “Dr. Jeremy Gates would never do this to the government!”
Bounty Hunter: “I can tell by your face that you know I could be right!”
The President’s Assistant looks enraged.
President’s Assistant: “Get out! I’ll send mutant control after you if you don’t leave now!”
Bounty Hunter: “Okay… but if you’ve got a dead president on Friday afternoon, you know who to blame!”
President’s assistant: “GET OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
The Bounty Hunter leaves quietly…
Scene 21:
The Bounty Hunter leaves the government building. As he walks on, he notices a couple of men in suits and sunglasses following him. They begin to speed up towards him, and he is alarmed. The Bounty Hunter takes a communicator from out of his pocket and starts to talk to Martin…
Bounty Hunter: “Things aren’t looking so good! The President’s Assistant wasn’t convinced, and I’ve got a couple of his goons following me. Oh, and by the way, mutant control are after you now!”
Martin: “Don’t lead them here! We’ll come to you!”
Bounty Hunter: “Okay, but hurry the fuck up!”
The Bounty Hunter walks further away from the goons, but he then notices movement from a set of mutant control buildings situated nearby. Huge sliding doors begin to open, and he decides to speed up. From out of the buildings come 3 mutant control police on hover bikes. From another building appear 3 further men kitted up in red armour.
The Bounty Hunter uses his communicator once again to contact Martin…
Bounty Hunter: “This is getting totally out of hand – I’ve got bikers on my arse now! I reckon they must know you’re hanging around the area!”
Martin: “We’re almost there, just try and stay calm for a second.”
The Bounty Hunter puts away his communicator and turns to face the control police. One of the police in red armour walks up to him. The Bounty Hunter faces him with his hands on top of his head – as if he is willing to surrender.
Bounty Hunter: “I’m not a mutant! You can check my DNA if you want.”
Police officer 1: “We don’t tolerate people who assist mutants either!”
The Police Officer then slams his metal-plated arm across the Bounty Hunter’s face. The Bounty Hunter falls to the ground, and then looks back up at the officer…
Bounty Hunter: “You’ve got a nice little army back there. I am too tough for you, officer?”
Police officer: “Shut up!”
The Police Officer takes a glance around him…
Police Officer 1: “We know your friends are around here!”
Bounty Hunter: “It’s a shame you’re going to get kicked to fuck then, isn’t it?”
Police Officer: “That’s not likely…”
The police officer then nods to the other two officers with red armour, and they react by switching on what now appear to be robotic suits.
Flames appear within the tubes attached to their arms, and they now look prepared for an attempted ambush.
From the other side of the area come Marcus and Martin. Both are kitted out in a thin, protective uniform, but Martin has extra equipment on him that appears to be weaponry of some sort. Martin then stretches out his arm which has a strange gauntlet attached.
A stripe on the gauntlet starts to glow red, and a whirring noise begins. A small disc then catapults out of the gauntlet and into the air. Police Officer 1 notices that something has been shot in his direction, and looks towards his fellow officers….
Police officer 1: “Get out of the way!”
The small disc then expands into a huge helicopter style blade, which begins to descend on the officers like a heat seeking rocket. The officers then use their robot suits to hover away, just as the blade hits the ground and explodes violently.
The police officers immediately react by hovering towards Marcus and Martin on their bikes and robot suits. Martin stretches out both arms this time and two gauntlets begin whirring loudly. Within seconds, a stream of discs come shooting out of the gauntlets. They hit straight into the bikers, sending them flying into the air.
By now, the robot-suited officers are about to land in front of Martin and Marcus. Police Officer 1 then raises his arm and launches a stream of fire at Martin and Marcus. Just as the flame is about to reach them, Marcus raises a blue shield of energy to protect himself, and Martin produces a disc from one of his gauntlets that expands into a huge shield.
The heat from the flames begins to overpower them despite their efforts…
Martin: “I don’t know if this was such a good idea!”
Marcus: “Just hold on!”
Just as the other two officers switch on their flame weapons, Richard and Gary appear from out of nowhere. Richard lifts up his blunderbuss weapon as Gary jumps inside it armed with strange looking blades in his hands…
Richard: “Hey… over here!”
The officers decide to turn their attention to Richard, just as he fires Gary out of the blunderbuss.
Gary then crashes into the three officers with his blades swinging
He starts to knock back their robotic arms in a blur of twirling metal. He then balances himself upon the blade edges and starts kicking wildly at the officers.
By now, other mutant control police have noticed things are getting out of hand, and appear from the control buildings ready to fight…
Marcus: “I think it’s time to get out of here!”
Gary: “Yep… think so!”
From around the corner appears Stuart who uses his powers to lift the distant Bounty Hunter towards him…
Stuart: “You ready to use those hover boards?”
Martin: “We’re going to have to!”
Martin then turns around to reveal a large backpack attached to his suit. He presses a button on the backpack to reveal three hover boards that instantly float above the ground ready for use. Stuart has managed to bring the Bounty Hunter over to him as the police officers begin to approach…
Bounty Hunter: “This mess is all for you, yi know!”
Stuart: “Once we get out of here, we’re going to lie low for the next few days!”
Bounty Hunter: “You’re on your own once you get me to safety!”
Stuart: “Only if you promise to tell us about Dr. Gates!”
Bounty Hunter: “How do you know about that!?”
Stuart: (smiling) “I’m a good mind-reader!”
Martin, Marcus, Stuart, Richard, Gary and the Bounty Hunter share the hover boards and quickly set off towards the beachfront nearby. As they reach the sand, they turn to the left and start riding to safety. The police are hot on their tails, but they are ready to hold them off. Marcus quickly whips up small bolts of blue energy and throws them towards the oncoming hover bikes. Martin uses the gauntlets on his robotic suit to fire small discs at the hovering police officers and eventually they are safe of danger. They continue along the beach as the sun begins to fall in the horizon…
Stuart: “So what did you find out about the Doctor?”
Bounty Hunter: “Just that he works for the government – but the President’s Assistant refuses to believe he’s involved in the rogue mutants.”
Stuart: “I can already tell the Doctor’s behind it all!”
Bounty Hunter: “Once it’s dark, you can let me off in the city centre. I’ll be okay.”
Stuart: “We may see you on Friday – you know, during the press conference!”
Bounty Hunter: “Only if it goes ahead!”
Stuart: “It will!”
The camera pans out to show the gang hovering fast across the beachfront….
Scene 22:
The Bounty Hunter is dropped off in a quiet side street, and heads into town. As he enters the main street, he cuts past Chris who is looking manic and evil…
Scene 23:
The gang have retrieved their van and found a quiet place on a hilltop to discuss their plan for Friday… It is now very dark…
Stuart: “I think we need to finish this as quickly as possible now. One of us will find out a little bit more about Dr. Gates before Friday, and hopefully we can follow those mutants back to him when they appear at the conference…”
Martin: “I’m not sure about your new powers! You seem to know too much for your own good!”
Marcus: “Still, I don’t know if he can work out everything!”
Stuart: “Like what?”
Marcus: “Like how the hell are we going to get anywhere near the town hall for the conference! We’ve got to survive the next two days with mutant control chasing us, and come up with a way of finding those mutants when they leave the conference.”
Stuart: “Everything will be fine… the security is going to be very tight, but they can’t keep an eye on everyone!”
Gary: “I’ll find out more about the Doctor tomorrow night – you can give me a list of what you want me to look for.”
Stuart: “Sounds like a plan!”
Scene 24:
The scene is set in a government building the next day where people are talking about the events of the past few days. The President and his assistant are two of the people sitting around a large table in the room…
President’s Assistant: “The events of the last few days have been alarming to say the least, but we can’t back down from the conference at the end of this week – the public are already concerned as it is. Right now, we need a President who can raise their spirits and maintain calm…”
Government person 1: “I think that’s something that the President himself should speak about – not his assistant!”
President: “My assistant is speaking for me on this matter. I think we must go ahead this week. If I stepped away from such commitments during a time like this, then the press would have a field day at my expense!”
Government person 2: “I’m concerned about these rogue mutants as much as anyone else here. I think we should consider the safety of the President and move him to a more appropriate location until the conference.”
President: “That’s already been arranged… my assistant will see to my duties here at headquarters until at least the end of the week. I see no reason to panic as of yet – these mutants have not attacked unless they were provoked.”
Government person 3: “But what about the situation we had yesterday?!”
President: “That sort of occurrence was common five years ago. This is the first time in two years that we’ve needed to act in such a way – I think it shows a lot of progress!”
Government person 3: “These mutants know their time is running out – they need to attack soon before they are caught!”
President: “I have no reason to believe that these mutants will show their faces on Friday…plus security will be in place. I have no more to say!”
President’s Assistant: “Meeting terminated… the conference will take place at the town hall with security measures.”
The government officials continue to argue amongst each other as the President and his assistant leave the room in a hurry.
Outside the meeting room, the president and his assistant have a quick word…
President: “I don’t know what you’ve been up to, but it’s making my life difficult! I’ve got enough things to worry about right now!”
President’s assistant: “Please accept my apologies sir… I’ll have it swept under the carpet by Friday.”
President: “You’d better, the press are going to murder me if they know what’s happened!”
The President is then ushered away by security. His assistant heads to his office to contemplate…
Scene 25:
It has now turned to night time, and we see Gary spying into the meeting room from a distance with some advanced binoculars.
He watches as the President’s Assistant moves through the building to his room – switching lights on and off as he goes.
Security measures are in place around the building, but nothing too daunting for Gary, who starts approaching the building by leaping and scaling buildings with his new found gift. He eventually reaches the government building and vaults over the security fence without being detected.
The camera then turns to the President’s Assistant who is preparing an alcoholic drink in his room. He moves into his office area and sits down to contemplate and have his drink. He then phones through to his reception desk…
President’s Assistant: “Michelle… I’m going to get an early night tonight. Why don’t you sign off soon and let security take over?”
Michelle: “Okay sir… I hope it wasn’t too bad in the meeting?!”
President’s Assistant: “Not to worry Michelle, I’ll see you in the morning.”
The President’s Assistant puts down his drink and starts wandering around the room. In the background, we see Gary pin himself to the window like a fly. The President’s Assistant moves through to his bedroom next door, and starts looking for his dressing gown.
The camera turns back to Gary, who is now cutting one of the office windows with a small tool. He has also put on a mask to conceal his identity.
Gary finally cuts a big enough hole and reaches into the office to unlock the window. As he does so, he makes a small noise which alerts the President’s Assistant.
The President’s Assistant wanders into his office room and notices the hole in the window. He drops his newly poured drink in fright, and rushes to the main door of his apartment. As he does, Gary appears from behind his bedroom door and approaches him… the president’s assistant turns around to see Gary in front of him…
President’s assistant: “Who the hell are you?”
Gary: “I’m your key to a quiet Friday! But I need you to tell me about Dr. Jeremy Gates!”
President’s assistant: “What do you mean?”
Gary: “Stop asking questions! You know exactly what I’m talking about!”
President’s assistant: “I don’t want you interfering with things anymore!”
Gary: “Just give me some details, and you may never see me again!”
President’s assistant: “I have a file on Doctor Gates – but you can’t mention my name to him! I’m in deep shit as it is!”
Gary: “Don’t worry, he won’t know anything about it!”
The President’s Assistant moves cautiously to his computer, switches it on, and searches for the file…
President’s Assistant: “This is the last time I want to see you… or any of your friends! If what I hear about Dr. Gates is true, then you can work things out yourself.”
Gary: “You know more than you let on!”
The President’s Assistant hands Gary a computer disc with the information on Dr. Gates…
President’s assistant: “Here! All the information I have on Dr. Gates is in there… now go!”
Gary obliges, and leaves the office by the window.
The President’s Assistant immediately locks the window and looks concerned. He glances up at the hole in the window, and sighs to himself…
Scene 26:
It is now Friday – it’s getting dark and the President’s security men are taking places around the City Hall building. The camera pans around the building and the surrounding area to catch the mood perfectly. The camera then moves down to the city square – which has been blocked off until the conference begins. The President’s Assistant is talking to security guards just outside the City Hall doors…
President’s Assistant: “I want this to go ahead without any hitches. There’s no reason why there should be problems, but I want guards on the rooftops of all neighbouring buildings. Captain, I’d like you to have four of your best men in the conference area, and the rest situated at every entrance to the building.”
Police Captain: “Yes sir, I’ll have everything in place within the hour…”
President’s Assistant: “Captain – here are the pictures of some mutants I want you to look out for. If you spot them, notify me immediately and prepare to get the President as far away from here as possible – do you understand?”
Police Captain: “Yes Sir, I’ll keep my eyes open at all times!”
President’s Assistant: “They could be a huge danger to the president – I don’t want a repeat of Tuesday’s incident.”
The President’s Assistant walks away from the Captain with a nervous look on his face. The Captain approaches some of his men standing nearby and informs them of the mutants and their plan of action.
The camera then pans over the top of nearby buildings as darkness falls, and zooms into the Bounty Hunter who is driving a black sports bike and wearing a backpack. He drives into a quiet corner near a high-rise building and dismounts his bike. He then looks up towards the rooftop, and then checks for people around him.
The Bounty Hunter opens his backpack to reveal a crossbow with a hooked arrow in place. He shoots the arrow to the top of the building, checks that it is securely attached to the rooftop, and then presses a button that hauls him to the roof by motor.
The Bounty Hunter climbs on top of the roof and views the scene in front of him. He is standing on a tall building, and can see people preparing to enter the City Hall. It gets noticeably busier as the Bounty Hunter uses binoculars to find the President’s assistant amongst the crowd…
Bounty Hunter: (talking to himself) “You’re going to give me that money tonight, whether you like it or not!”
The Bounty Hunter then watches security police take their places on nearby buildings. He counts the number of security members that may cause him a problem…
Bounty Hunter: “One…Two…Three…and… four! You’re making it too easy for me.”
The Bounty Hunter then reaches into his backpack to reveal a small sniper rifle. As he starts loading it up, he hears a noise from below. He moves over to look down from the roof’s edge, and notices Chris walking along the street below.
Chris walks over to the Bounty Hunter’s bike before looking up to the roof edge where he thinks someone may be.
The Bounty Hunter moves out of view – just as Chris looks towards him.
Chris then looks away and begins walking down the street in a different direction. The Bounty Hunter is alarmed, and decides to move to another building using his crossbow and arrow. He crosses safely, checks behind him and then settles down again. We then notice someone jump and land on the rooftop of the building behind him. The Bounty Hunter does not notice, and continues preparing his equipment…
Scene 27:
Stuart has parked the van a fair distance from the City Hall, and is also preparing for a possible showdown with the other mutants…
Martin: “We’re not going to get anywhere near the hall… security would blow our cover for starters.”
Stuart: “Not to worry… we’re going to let them come to us!”
Marcus: “Why would those mutants come to us?”
Stuart: “You’ll see what happens… if we stay around here, Martin can tap into a security broadcast – that’ll keep us up to date!”
Martin: “Never thought of that!”
Martin turns to the communication centre in the van and begins fiddling with controls…
Marcus: “This better work out Stuart – we might not get another chance to meet Dr. Gates.”
Stuart: “Leave it to me… the plan’s working out fine at the moment.”
Martin: “I’ve got a signal! It must be security!”
Stuart: “See… I told you!”
Marcus smiles…
Scene 28:
The scene is set inside the City Hall where people are taking their places in the main seating area and awaiting the President’s speech.
The camera pans around the hall to show every detail that could be important if there is an attempted assassination or kidnapping of the President.
The camera then moves through the main corridor where people are walking to the main area after queuing to get in. The camera stops outside the building where two Ushers are taking tickets and security police are watching for suspects. The Captain then comes into shot and he picks up his walkie-talkie…
Police Captain: “Everything looking okay with you Cameron?”
The camera turns to two police officers sitting in one of the viewing boxes above the main seating area…
Officer Cameron: “Everything is looking good Captain! The rest of the boys are in place, and there’s been no suspects yet…”
Officer Cameron waves to the other officers in the area – two officers are sitting in the other viewing box directly to the right of Cameron, and others are situated at the entrance to the stage. They notice Cameron and wave back…
Police Captain: “Good stuff Cameron… you keep them on their toes in there!”
Officer Cameron: “Right you are Captain!”
The camera moves away from Officer Cameron, and pans towards the main skylight window in the hall. The camera pans right through the window and on to the rooftop where security are on the lookout. One of the security men hears his walkie-talkie crackling, and picks it up quickly…
Security man: “Yes Captain?”
Police Captain: “Everything look okay up there?”
Security man: (looking around) “No problems here Captain! People are in their places.”
Police Captain: “Keep it up, boy!”
The security man smiles and puts away his walkie-talkie. In the near distance we see the Bounty Hunter moving ever closer to the roof of the City hall…
Scene 29:
The scene moves back into the town hall where people are beginning to hush in anticipation. Cheering begins as the President is ushered onto stage. Meanwhile, at the front of the queue to get into the hall, a suspicious looking character has appeared. It is quickly revealed to be the flying mutant in disguise. He is wearing a very expensive looking black suit and tie.
The ticket collectors and security guards begin to look at him suspiciously, but in the background we see his fellow evil mutant using his mental powers to help him out…
Ticket collector: “Do you have a ticket sir?”
Mutant 1: “No… is there a problem?”
At that very moment, the other mutant starts tapping into people’s brains in order to get his friend safely into the hall…
Security guard: (looking drowsy) “If you could just give us a quick DNA sample!”
The Security guard reveals a hand-scanner, which the mutant is happy to use. As the unit scans his hand, a red button flashes violently, but the security and ticket collectors let him pass…
Security guard: “That’s fine… he’s clear to go.”
The flying mutant makes his way down the corridor, whilst the other mutant walks away from the scene. The security guard shakes his head in confusion and then continues his job. The scene changes back to the main hall where the flying mutant has just taken his place in an aisle near the back of the hall. Officer Cameron eventually notices the suspicious looking character and picks up his walkie-talkie…
Scene 30:
The camera takes us back to the rooftops where we can see the Bounty Hunter creeping up on the security guard above the skylight window in the hall. As the security guard looks down on the stage below, the Bounty Hunter grabs him and slips a tissue under his nose. The tissue is covered in a strong, sedative liquid, and the security guard eventually drops to his knees unconcious. As he does so, a walkie-talkie begins to crackle. The Bounty Hunter lays down the security guard and quickly takes three walkie-talkies from his back pack – he has obviously knocked out the three other security guards that were in his way, and stolen their handsets…
Police Captain: “Come in Thomson!”
Bounty Hunter: “I’m here Sir!”
Police Captain: “Is everything okay up there? We had an incident at the entrance to the hall. I want you to tell Boyd to check the hall from the skylight – but he has to keep out of sight. We don’t want any panic!”
Bounty Hunter: “I’ll tell him Sir – we’re fine up here.”
The Bounty Hunter checks all around for guards. As he does, the camera pans over to a conscious security member, who is worried about another guard on a neighbouring building. The camera pans over to his friend who is unconscious, but propped up against a wall by the Bounty Hunter so that he looks awake…
Scene 31:
Back in the hall, the flying mutant is starting to cause concern amongst the police as he shuffles around the aisle for a better view of the President. The camera turns to Officer Cameron who has just lifted up his walkie-talkie…
Officer Cameron: “Michaels – I’ve got someone in the east aisle looking very suspicious… you see him?”
The camera moves over to Michaels in the other viewing box and he nods to agree with Officer Cameron…
Officer Michaels: “Yeah, I see him!”
Officer Cameron: “I think something’s about to happen, be at the ready!”
Officer Michaels: “Sure.”
The camera moves back up to the skylight, and out to the rooftop where the Bounty Hunter is frantically setting up a sniper rifle. He hears the conversation between officers Cameron and Michaels over his walkie-talkie, and is almost ready to aim at the mutant…
Bounty Hunter: (talking to himself) “You’re gonna love this new weapon my friend – I’ll leave a mark on you this time!”
The Bounty Hunter moves his sniper stand into a better position and lays down on his front – ready to aim and shoot. There is a pause as the Bounty Hunter lines up his shot.
The camera suddenly moves back into the hall where Officer Cameron is still looking about. He notices the mutant slowly spy the Bounty Hunter lining up a shot through the skylight – it is dark outside but a small glisten from the sniper scope can be seen. Officer Cameron looks at the skylight and becomes alarmed. Hhe quickly stands up and grabs his walkie-talkie…
Officer Cameron: “Michaels, come in! He’s moving, and there’s someone with a gun at the skylight! I’m going to go for the President!!!!!”
With that, four officers move from their viewing boxes, and suddenly people start taking notice. The flying mutant is quick to react to the commotion, and starts flying towards the President. Officer Cameron is then seen jumping over the seating area, row by row. He is fast, but the flying mutant is sure to get there first!
A gunshot rains down through the skylight, but misses the mutant and hits the ground instead. Officer Cameron can tell things are getting out of hand…
Officer Cameron: “EVERYONE GET DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!
Unfortunately, the mutant grabs the President onstage and turns his back to the audience and the police officers. As he does so, his two huge, metal wings rip through his suit and cover him and the President like a shield.
Some security members open fire on the mutant, but the shots ricochet off the mutant’s metal wings. Officer Cameron is aware that these bullets could hit the President instead, and warns the people shooting…
Officer Cameron: “CEASE FIRE! You could hit the President!”
The crowd is shocked into silence as the mutant moves his wings into a flying position and starts running towards the stage wing with the President held to his chest. The crowd then begin to scream as the mutant flies into the narrow corridor at the stage wing that leads to the main corridor.
Security guards and the police are both alert, and watch as the mutant’s wings slice through the mirrored wall that separates the stage wing corridor and the main corridor.
People in the main corridor scream and take cover as we catch glimpses of the mutant and the captured president through the crumbling mirrors.
The mutant eventually cuts into the main corridor and smashes through the exit door – swooping into the air, as gunshots and spotlights fly past him. The Bounty Hunter takes a few more shots at him from the roof with his sniper gun, but admits defeat as the mutant flies further out of view…
Scene 32:
We see the mutant fly to the top of a building in the distance, laying down the president as he does so. The President stumbles away from the mutant, but collapses to the ground nearby when he realises he is on a high roof top…
President: “What the hell do you want from me? I’m just trying to run this City the best I can! You can look after yourself, you’re smarter than any of my men!”
The President turns round and watches as the other two evil mutants walk onto the rooftop…
Mental mutant: “Mr President… it’s a pleasure to meet you!”
The Mental mutant crouches in front of the President who is now in total fear…
President: “This won’t help you – doing this! You should let me go and I can sort something out for you! Make your life easier!”
Mental mutant: “We don’t want you to help us – that’s not why we captured you…not even close. You and Dr. Jeremy Gates used to be friends didn’t you? But there was a misunderstanding, am I right?”
President: “He’s a mutant – I needed to get rid of him!
Mental mutant: “But you didn’t get rid of him, did you?”
President: “I would lose my job if the rest of the Senate found out he was mutant!”
Mental mutant: “Loyalty is much more important than hating someone simply because they’re not like you!”
President: “We had an understanding, but Gates risked that when he stole those specimens!”
Mental mutant: “But you didn’t need to punish him!”
President: “He still has his job doesn’t he… that’s loyalty!”
Mental mutant: “Save your breath… you’re about to find out why Dr. Gates wants a very private meeting with you!”
President: “What’s he going to do to me? He’s sick in the head you know?!”
Mental mutant: “Don’t worry, you’re going to understand him – and us – after he’s turned you into a mutant!”
President: “This is no way to exact revenge!”
Mental mutant: “This is not revenge Mr President – he just wants to regain that understanding he used to have with you!”
President: “NO, No, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!”
The flying mutant suddenly notices a line of police hover-bikes coming towards them in the distance. He runs over and grabs the President once again, and starts flying towards a wooded hill over the cityscape. As he begins to fly, the control police spot him and begin their chase. The mutant then flies low again, and within a few seconds, passes by a corner nearby Stuart…
Stuart: “That’s him… let’s go!”
The gang then set out in their van and on hover-boards, in an attempt to catch the flying mutant. In the chase for the President, Officer Cameron and three of his fellow officers bump into Martin, Stuart and Marcus on their hover-boards.
A battle then begins between the two gangs as they hover along behind the flying mutant. During the battle, Martin breaks off to try and keep on the tail of the flying mutant who is dodging through oncoming traffic and low bridges along the busy city streets. Streetlights pass by the President in a blur, as he is taken on a stomach-churning ride along the busy roads. Cars beep their horns and move to safety as the others maintain the pursuit.
By now, Martin is within a few metres of the flying mutant – he has pushed his hover-board to the limit and could easily use his special gauntlets to shoot something at the enemy.
Instead, he reaches out with his gauntlet and shoots a metal rope towards the mutant. The rope catches one of the mutant’s wings, making him lose stability. The mutant turns round to see what the problem is. He makes eye contact with Martin, and then begins to fly towards the sky. Martin holds onto the rope and finds himself being pulled into the air by his enemy.
Martin is able to switch on the communicator that is built-in to his gauntlet so that he can talk to someone…
Martin: “Come in Stuart!”
The camera turns back to Stuart, who is helping Marcus take out Officer Cameron and his fellow bikers…
Stuart: “What do you want? I’m trying to give us some breathing space here!”
Martin: “Just take a look… the fuckers dragging me into the air!”
Stuart turns around for a moment to see Martin hanging on to the rope for dear life…
Stuart: “How the hell did that happen?”
Martin: “Doesn’t matter now! Just hurry up and help me!”
Stuart faces the last of the officers chasing him and suddenly uses his powers to disappear. We then see the hover-board fly off in Martin’s direction with the silhouette of Stuart on-board…
Stuart: “Marcus – you’re on your own for now!”
Marcus turns around to see the hover-board leaving his side…
Marcus: “What! I can’t take on these guys myself!”
Stuart: “Yes you can!”
We see Marcus face the Officers.
He starts unleashing lots of energy blasts, and the officers attempt to dodge them.
Another bike explodes, leaving only Officer Cameron on Marcus’s tail.
Officer Cameron steadies himself during the moment of calm and raises a laser-blast gun towards Marcus and his hover-board…
Officer Cameron: “Either get out of my way, or I use this!”
Marcus looks at Officer Cameron from a slight distance…
Marcus: “I’m not choosing either of those options, Officer. I’m trying to keep up with my friends!”
Marcus then builds up a small energy ball and throws it towards the base of Officer Cameron’s bike. Cameron shoots, but is immediately sent out off control by the energy ball. Marcus is able to dodge the laser shot, and heads off towards Martin and Stuart.
Officer Cameron crashes into the roadside and looks on in disgust.
We then watch as Marcus pushes his hover-board to the limit and eventually catch up with the invisible Stuart…
Marcus: “You can cut that out now!”
Stuart becomes visible again, turns to Marcus and gives a sly grin. They continue to chase the mutant, as the camera pans backwards to show them approaching the wooded hill…
Stuart: (switching on his communicator) “Hey you guys! Where are you?”
Gary: “We’re right behind you, just keep on following!”
The camera pans even further back to show Gary and Richard catching up in the van…
Scene 33:
The sun is now beginning to come up. The camera pans over to the gang meeting together at a gate leading up the wooded hill that the mutant has disappeared into. The van pulls up to Marcus and Stuart on their hover-boards – everyone looks slightly drained, but ready for more action…
Marcus: “What’s the plan of action then Stuart?”
Stuart: “We’re going to take a walk through those trees – the Doctor’s got a little hiding place up there.”
Richard walks towards Marcus and Stuart…
Richard: “You two okay?”
Stuart: “Yeah! We’ve got to get going though, Martin’s safe for just now, but he’s going to need our help soon.”
Stuart, Marcus, Richard and Gary begin talking to each other as they prepare to walk across an area of grassland to the wooded hill.
The camera pans over and into the wooded area, where we see the sun shining through the gaps in the trees. Birds are tweeting and leaves are falling to the ground as we see Martin come into shot.
He seems slightly bruised and battered, but looks towards where the Doctor’s hideout must. He brushes himself down and looks around for his friends.
He doesn’t see them, but is then alarmed by a noise within the trees. Birds fly away in fear as a rustling noise begins. He looks round the woods… eventually noticing someone appear at the top of the path he is standing on.
The person looks familiar as they crouch to the ground. Suddenly, the person rolls into a ball and starts hurtling towards Martin. Martin presses a few buttons on his gauntlet, which makes two small discs appear out of each arm.
A handle extends out of each disc, and Martin prepares for battle. As the enemy comes hurtling down the hill in a ball shape, they gradually roll back out to their human shape and come to a halt in front of Martin. The person stands up straight and quickly morphs into a normal looking human…it is Chris!
Chris: “Are you here for the President?”
Martin: (shocked and scared) “Yeah… what are you here for?”
Chris then brings his arms out to the side. Martin watches on in astonishment as rows of large needles grow out along Chris’s arms.
Once the noise of the needles piercing through his skin has ended, Chris looks straight at Martin.
The discs on Martin’s gauntlets then start whirring, and extend to produce shields on Martin’s arms. Chris then throws a forearm to Martin’s face.
Martin is able to block the attack with one of his disc-shields, and then crashes the other shield into Chris’s stomach. Chris stumbles slightly, but looks undeterred…
Martin: “What’s wrong with you Chris?”
Chris: (threateningly) “Nothing… I’ve just got a really, really bad head ache!”
Martin: “Is that going to end anytime soon?”
Chris looks back at Martin and starts running towards him.
Martin tries to block his attack, but is too slow and after a short fight, Chris is able to hold him to the ground.
There is a short silence, and then Marcus’s gauntlets start whirring madly. Chris then disappears from Martin’s sight.
Martin stands up to look for Chris and sees him disappear into the ground below and start travelling through the trees in front of him.
Martin then touches a button on the inside of his gauntlet that starts the whirring noise again. Soon, the two discs have grown to such a size that Martin is almost lifted off the ground. He then fires one of the discs after Chris who has disappeared underground and into the woods.
The disc cuts its way through the woods, leaving a clear path in the direction of Chris.
We have more silence, and then Chris appears in the distance. Martin starts running towards him, but Chris reacts by disappearing and travelling underground again.
Martin follows Chris through the trees, but eventually loses track of where he is. Martin stops so that he can listen for Chris…
Chris appears behind Martin, but Martin does not notice. We watch on, as Chris makes his arm turn into a massive spike – unknown to Martin.
As Chris looks set to use his new weapon, Marcus comes to the rescue, and sends a ball of energy flying into Chris’s side. Martin falls to the ground in shock.
Chris disappears into the ground once again and flees the area…
Martin: “How the fuck did Stuart not see that coming – I was about to die!?”
Marcus: “He did – we needed Chris to give us a lead to Dr. Gates – you don’t mind do you!”
Marcus’s communicator starts crackling…
Stuart: (over the communicator) “I’ve found it – it’s just over the top of this hill.”
Marcus: “Okay, I’ll be there in just a minute!”
Marcus helps Martin to his feet. The camera then pans over the top of the hill where Stuart is standing, to reveal a small wooden hut, hidden in a dip in the woods.
The camera moves into the hut and down into a basement where the President is locked in a cubicle. He awakens – just as a strange gas begins to rise from under his feet.
He is understandably shocked, and starts banging on the cubicle door. The camera then turns to Richard and Gary who have just entered the room. They look at the President and then at the room surrounding them…
Richard: “This is a trap!”
As Richard and Gary check the area, the cubicle door opens and the President starts floating towards them – even though he is clearly unconscious.
Gary and Richard frantically look around the room as they realise something is very wrong. Suddenly the mental mutant enters through another door with a demonic look on his face.
As Gary and Richard look towards him, the Mutant moves his head and the President’s body immediately flies towards them.
Gary catches the President, but is flung into the wall behind him by the impact. Richard looks at Gary and then lifts his Blunderbuss weapon in anticipation.
The mutant then moves his head once again, and the cubicle in which the President was held is thrown towards Richard. Richard unleashes a shot from his Blunderbuss weapon and then shields his face as the cubicle explodes in front of him
As the smoke settles, Gary and Richard notice movement around them, but are unable to pinpoint what is happening. Richard looks around the room whilst Gary notices the President is nowhere to be seen. As Gary turns to look behind himself, a fist hits him fully in the mid-section. He groans in pain as the power of the large mutant who has just appeared, knocks him straight into Richard.
Gary and Richard fall to the ground and then quickly bring themselves back up. As they do so, Gary notices movement from the ground floor above them. He looks at Richard…
Gary: “They’re getting away with the President! You okay on your own here?”
Richard clenches his fists and looks at the large mutant in front of him…
Richard: “Yeah… I’ve been looking forward to this!”
Richard and the large mutant then clash with each other – creating a huge noise as they batter away with punches…
Gary leaves Richard and uses his powers to run straight up the stairs.
He lands on the ground floor of the hut to see the flying mutant run into Stuart and Marcus outside.
The mutant is holding the President in one hand like a rag doll, as Stuart and Marcus stare him out.
Suddenly, a roar can be heard from inside the hut… Richard then smashes through one of the hut windows and slams into the ground next to the flying mutant. The flying mutant looks down at Richard, drops the president, and moves towards Marcus. The President starts to float towards the roof of the hut. Stuart looks to the sky, and sees the mental mutant using his physic powers to lift the President to his side.
The large mutant, who has been fighting with Richard, appears from the hut and makes for Richard. Marcus is now fighting with the flying mutant.
The evil mutant is trying to pin Marcus to the ground so that he cannot use his powers, and eventually he succeeds in immobilising him. As Marcus struggles to no avail, Gary takes out a couple of his blades. The noise of the blades alarms the flying mutant, and after turning his head, he sees Gary ready for battle.
The flying mutant realises that he cannot afford to let go of Marcus, but the mental mutant assists him by pinning down Marcus with his physic powers.
The flying Mutant stands up and starts walking towards Gary.
Gary holds the blades out in front of him, and then catapults into the mutant feet first. Gary bounces off the mutant and then rolls back to his feet. He then launches himself at the mutant once again in a flurry of swinging blades. The evil mutant uses his metallic arm plates to block the blades, but eventually finds himself overwhelmed. The flying mutant flinches back in pain as Gary slashes wounds into his face and chest. After a split second, the mutant turns back around with a large gash to his face. He looks deep into Gary’s eyes and moves back to a battle stance…
The camera then catches a glimpse of Richard and the large mutant getting to grips with each other.
On top of the roof, the third mutant is struggling to hold Marcus down as Stuart counter attacks with some of his own mental powers. Eventually Stuart gets the better of the evil mutant, and Marcus is freed. Stuart then clashes with the mental mutant, by using a force field to hold off his attacks.
Marcus realises he can fight again, and wastes no time in building up an almighty energy ball just metres away from the flying mutant who is battling with Gary. Marcus has prepared his huge energy ball and looks towards his target…
Marcus: “Hey!”
The flying mutant turns around, as the camera shows Marcus struggling to contain the energy ball he has produced. He unleashes the energy ball and sends the flying mutant shooting into the trees in a cloud of blue sparks.
The flying mutant is clearly out of the picture for the moment, so Marcus and Gary turn their attention to the large mutant causing Richard some bother.
Just as they look to help Richard out, he connects an almighty punch into the large mutant. Richard gets to his feet and approaches his enemy.
Marcus, Richard and Gary then turn their attention to Stuart who has just been thrown from the roof of the hut by the mental mutant. We watch on as the mental mutant disappears from the scene with the President. Stuart is able to lift himself to the ground, as Marcus walks towards the large mutant…
Marcus: “Where is Dr Gates?!”
The large mutant stands his ground as Marcus prepares a set of energy balls…
Stuart: “He was never here… we’ve been tricked!”
Marcus: “What do you mean, he was never here?!”
Stuart: “We’ve been used by him! We held off the police, and the President was captured!”
Gary: “We almost got the President back though!
Stuart: “That doesn’t matter – the Doctor knew he would change the future if he got us involved. He was using us like guinea pigs.”
Gary: “So we were meant to meet that Bounty Hunter and get involved in this shit!?”
Stuart: “All the Doctor wanted was to change the President into a mutant. Now he’ll take the experiment to the next stage and try and push for a mutant revolt.”
Gary: “With the President as his helper.”
Stuart: “It looks like we’re stuck here for the time being.”
Marcus: “Fuck this!”
Stuart: (looking drained) “We have to start from scratch and try to stop the Doctor from changing the future anymore.”
As Stuart sighs in defeat, a rumbling noise can be heard. From out of nowhere, Chris appears with Martin unconscious in his hands…
Marcus: “He’s got Martin…!”
Stuart: “Chris… put him down!”
Chris: “You let my friend go, and I give you him back!”
Marcus grabs the large mutant by the throat and prepares to punch a handful of energy through his face. The evil mutant grabs Marcus’s hand, but is aware of the damage he could still do…
Marcus: “What the hell is going on… you should be on our side Chris!”
Stuart looks towards Chris and studies him with his mental powers…
Stuart: “We have to let him go… Chris is too unpredictable!”
Marcus let’s the Mutant go and Chris sticks to his side of the bargain by hurling Martin to the ground.
Chris then looks towards Marcus and the others… the camera zooms into Chris’s eyes and fades to black…
