Part 2:

Alex & Kate are now lying together in the back of an old, estate car. It is the morning, and it looks as if they have slept in each other’s company after an emotional and slightly drink-fuelled night at the club.  Alex sits up and watches as Kate begins to stir and wake as well:

Kill, Kill, Kill

Alex (singing): “You say that I’m over the top, You say that I couldn’t feel… That wa-a-a-ay. From the back of your automobile, I say that I know it’s real, So never ever stray, You were happy but that changed from day to day…

Whenever you were under, whenever it was over, Think it’s over… then… You’re living on a fancy street, But you’re not complete, You are not complete…

They can’t kill kill kill you anymore. They can’t kill kill kill you anymore. They can’t kill kill kill you anymore”

Kate (singing): “It’s a wound that will never heal, Weighed down cause you couldn’t feel… That wa-a-a-ay. You fell in love but that’s okay, You had a friend but that’s okay, So never ever say That you’re happy and it’s better every day.”

Alex (singing) “Whenever you were under, whenever it was over, Think it’s over… then… You’re living on a fancy street, But you’re not complete, You are not complete…

They can’t kill kill kill you anymore. They can’t kill kill kill you anymore. They can’t kill kill kill you anymore.

Alex & Kate (singing): “When we’re on the concrete we’re on the same street… I won’t let our eyes meet. And we won’t talk a lot… That wa-a-a-ay”

Alex & Kate embrace and kiss.  The scene darkens briefly, and we join the couple once more – they are in good spirits, and laughing away.  They enter a different house where a family of four hug and welcome them.  The six of them sit down and start to talk about times gone by:  Alex turns to Kate to remind her of a mischievous day they spent together when they were younger.  The background turns to black and white again to signify a flashback:

Girl

Alex (singing): “Set the scene, we’re running from danger – In a new area we’re living with a stranger, And taking precautions so they’ll never know where we’ve been.

And cause we’re never going out, we’re nowhere to be found. When I was younger, you were never really here but now. With a piano in a freezing deserted house…

A little piece of me was calling, A little piece of you was falling.”

Kate: “When they come for our mothers and brothers, And under the floorboards they look for our lovers, And throwing our clothes out of the window and down the stairs, But all around the area they will only find tires and cats. Under the pianos they will only find booby traps. Under their noses we’re moving behind their backs.

A little piece of me was calling A little piece of you was falling.”

Alex: “We weren’t always this close, But I loved you the most. You weren’t always my girl Girl… girl… girl

And almost every night. Almost alright, almost there… A little piece of me was calling. A little piece of you was falling You weren’t always my girl Girl… girl… girl.”

Alex & Kate kiss each other on the cheek and embrace.

The scene changes to the family home we saw earlier where Kate & Alex looked at photographs.  We see Simon (Kate’s Ex-boyfriend) in a nearby house has realised that the pair have been here.  He is not pleased:

The Centre

Simon (singing): “On the last day Of the year, year. In the garden, very clear – but what I fear Is that I’m losing What I held dear. But my goal Is nothing at all.

They said it’s (they said it’s) Pathetic (pathetic) But I won’t (but I won’t) Forget it.

She was the centre. You’re taking me Towards the centre Of my old life.

Simon opens the window and starts singing to passers-by outside:

“Take an issue Or a truth, truth. Go and shout it from the roof Yeah from the roof. People call it Self-abuse, But my goal Is nothing at all.

They said it’s (they said it’s) Pathetic (pathetic) But I won’t (but I won’t) Forget it.

She was the centre. You’re taking me Towards the centre Of my old life.

Don’t talk about it (Don’t talk about it). They said it’s (they said it’s) Pathetic (pathetic) But I won’t (but I won’t) Forget it.

She was the centre. You’re taking me Towards the centre Of my old life. She was the centre. You’re taking me Towards the centre Of my old life”

Alex & Kate are seen walking down the street.  Their happiness is interrupted by the appearance of Simon. He confronts her about a past incident – the scene turns black and white once again to signify a flashback:

Her Alibi

Alex (singing): “Beds of roses It’s not anymore. Some will do, some die – This is her alibi.”

Kate (singing): “Went to see him briefly the other night – Never went inside the door.
Think I was home by four”

“You never trust in me, Like I trust in you, You check my alibi, You’ll see it’s true

Alex (singing): “People talking – They say they heard it all. Never went inside the door. Except for on the floor

Simon (singing to Kate): “While you’re sleeping And I’m wide awake. Thinking back, your alibi Sounds like it’s not a lie.

Kate: (Singing to Simon): “You never trust in me, Like I trust in you. You check my alibi You’ll see it’s true. You never trust in me Like I trust in you. You check my alibi
Oh oh

Alex (singing): “Check it out, Check it out, Check it out, Check it out”

Kate (singing): “You never trust in me Like I trust in you. You check my alibi
You’ll see it’s true. You never trust in me Like I trust in you. You check my alibi
Oh oh.”

Kate and Simon leave together to resolve their misunderstandings – and to bring an end to their relationship.  They take the car to a nearby school:

Once for Me

Kate (singing): “Be like me, quit your job Money don’t mean anything… much. We took a means of transport Down to your old school. All the way thinking how…

That you were once for me, Like I once was for you. That you were once for me, Like I once was for you.”

Simon (singing): “Around the world they have been told, She let me down lightly in love. She took a means of transport, Down to my old school, All the way screaming how…

That you were once for me, Like I once was for you. That you were once for me, Like I once was for you.

Oh, you hate everything I do Oh, you say nothing good reminds me of you Oooh…

Alex arrives on the scene:

Simon (singing): “When you arrive, and when you leave Nothing will change here, and so…

Alex (singing): “You take a means of transport Down to our old school – Tearing your photos of her.”

Kate & Simon (singing): And you were once for me, Like I once was for you. And you were once for me, Like I once was for you Oooh…”

The scene fades to complete darkness…

Fast forward a year, and we see Kate and Alex at a party – they are very happy, and enjoying the company of people young and old. Alex watches on as Kate dances and enjoys the moment:

Black and White –

Alex (singing): “She held an orange bottle, And she drunk it from a straw (ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh) I watched her glide around Around the people on the floor (ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh)

Pain, pain, pain, pain, pain, pain. I’ll kiss you in a minute If you’ll only feel the same Oh…

Now it’s all black and white for me baby, It’s all black and white for me now. It’s all black and white for me baby. It’s all black and white for me now.”

Alex can be seen walking to another part of the room looking slightly despondent and almost heartbroken about whether his feelings for Kate are now reciprocated.  Watching her happy and enjoying life makes him so eager to be part of it:

Alex (singing): “She threw a dart right through my shirt to my heart. Then came back later I had all but fallen apart (ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh).

Pain, pain, pain, pain, pain, pain Will she ever feel the same. Oh…

Now it’s all black and white for me baby, It’s all black and white for me now. It’s all black and white for me baby. It’s all black and white for me now

Oh… oh… oh… ooooh… ooooh…”

Kate walks towards Alex with a smile and a slight tear in her eye.

Kate (singing to Alex): “Now it’s all black and white for me baby, It’s all black and white for me now. It’s all black and white for me baby. It’s all black and white for me now”

Kate and Alex embrace and kiss.

The scene fades to complete darkness.
